The Quadrupel is the granddaddy of the Abbey Style Ales. Typically, they are dark, strong ales bursting with flavors such as dark fruit, chocolate and raisins and our Quadraphonic is no exception. This dense beer hides its 10.5% well with a deep brown color and a long rich finish. The Quadraphonic is a beer designed for celebration and decadence.

Tap at the brewery. Really solid Quad, rich chocolate edged dark malts. Smooth and rich, no real alcohol tone but you know it's big. Good.

Capped 750 from Tavour. Pours very dark brown with a huge foamy beige/tan head. Aroma of dark kandi, dark malt, raisin, dark cherry. Med body plus some. Flavor is not overly undry, and it's nicely bitter - with lots of dark malt, dark cherry, raisin, dark plum, and maybe a slight chocolate note. It is extremely delicious.

I always am pleased to locate an untasted domestic quadrupel. This 750 ml bottle of Quadrophonic is that opportunity. Found at a Total Wine in Orlando some weeks ago and brought home. My Buffalo Bayou snifter receives the pour, a dark mahogany body with a momentary, light brown-going-to-tan foam. I lift for the scent and get dark fruit and some yeast wafting up. Finally a drink, rather good. Raisins, figs, curiously some vinous quality, malt and white bread. A very decent approach to quads, no complaints from me.

Pours very dark brown, nearly black, no real head. Smell is rather weak, mild sweetness. Taste is full, sweet, rather boozy, dark fruits, some Esther's. A quad in the style of Chimay bleu, which worked out very well. But I'm more of a Rochefort style myself.

A deep dark brown quad with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity banana malt with light candy sugar, light curacao, dark fruits, plums, vanilla and alcohol warmth, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity banana malt with light cloves, candy sugar, light curacao, dark fruits, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. On tap at brewery.

Dark plummy-looking amber. Cherryish, fruity, and with some intense dark fruits, orchard fruits. Nice alcohol balance with dark fruit esters and subtley toffeeish malts.
