Sampled at NSF Den Bosch. Sort of rusty appearance indeed, average sized beige head. Aroma and flavor are sourish, tart, unripe fruit, fruitpeel, horse blanket / barnyard funk. Nah, not my thing. 5-3-5-3-9.

Bottle at 72 inch HD Duck tasting. Clear amber with off white head. Sweet malts, tea, grass, raisans, white grapes, white wine barrel, oak, birch, yeast, light herbs and spices. Very Orval like, I agree, but sweeter. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body and quite some carbonation.

Tap at Lokaal Duinoord. Clear amber with big beige head. Fruity Brett, light caramel, stone fruits, light spicy hops, soft dry malts, light funky Brett too. Medium sweet and bitter, light tart. Medium bodied with slightly fizzy carbonation. It’s actually quite close to a less complex Orval, very well done. This is the best Dutch beer in this style I’ve ever tried.
