Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een licht troebel goudgeel bier met een medium witte schuimkraag. Het aroma is citrus achtig en hoppig. De smaak is moutig, bitter en kruidig.

330ml bottle kindly shared by djoeye. Solid white head, clingy lacing, hazy golden body. Moderate smell of bread and mid-sweet fruits. Flavoured with spiced fruits and grainy malts. Hints of yeasty fruitiness towards the ending, mid-sweet. Satisfying. (Rating session with Finn and djoeye, Tromsø 05.06.2020).

Spandert av djoeye. Delt med ham og Rune på Nerstranda. Varm gylden. Uklar. Høyt luftig skum som daler sakte. Pene lacinger. Lett krydderaroma. Smaken litt brøddeig. Mest krydder. Søt, tørr avslutning.

Pours slightly unclear blonde. Médium white head. Seemingly stable. Smell is fresh, spiced, tad hoppy. Taste is rather bitter, very spiced. Tad sweet, but ends rather clean. Thin body, average Carbo. No greatness, but not bad.

Tap at Hopperie Ieper. Hazy pale gold, tall, fine, rocky head. Nice hoppy nose, lemon zest, grapefruit, light yeasty spuce. Minerally, lemon zest, light malt. Very hoppy, though noble, spicy. Somewhat thin and light. Interesting light ale, very quaffable. Interesting.

Draft @ M-Café, Leuven. Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Grainy, bready with dry bitter finish. Well done for this ABV.

23/II/18 - on tap @ café De Loge - BB: n/a (2018-203)

Clear pale yellow beer, big solid creamy white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty fruity, banana, green apples, grains, hay, malty. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very hoppy, grassy, bit herbal, some citrus, pretty bitter, greenish. Aftertaste: very hoppy, bitter, some grapefruit, little metallic, bit malty, more hop bitterness, pretty dry finish. Much better than I had expected...

The 'dinner beer' from the monks at the Maredsous abbey, normally reserved for themselves (following the same practice as most of the Belgian trappist abbeys) but now limitedly sold outside the abbey; had this from tap at Heeren van Liedekercke. Shows a very densely creamy, almost nitro tap-like, thickly papery lacing, egg-white, stable head and hazy golden robe with olive greenish tinge. Aroma of white bread, green apple, straw, some subtle lemon zest, soggy breakfast cereals, raw potato, grass, minerals, hints of unripe banana, leek, raw cauliflower and some very faint DMS faraway in the background. Rounded, fruity but flavor-wise fairly neutral onset with restrained sweetishness and a sourish touch, green banana and some apple, minerally carbo but soft with a very creamy, almost buttery mouthfeel, 'fuller' than what I would expect from a beer below 6% ABV. Cereally, white bready malt body, vaguely sweetish, rather grainy and 'green' with a mildly bittering, straw-like, subtly florally hopped finish. Simple as expected - 'refterbieren' are always simplified, light versions of the heavier commercial trappist ales so I guess in this non-trappist abbey beer case, the same parallel is maintained; the creaminess, to the point of becoming almost buttery, is something you'll like or not, but for me it set this beer apart from the familiar commercial Maredsous range. Clearly very (too?) young, but suitable enough as a non-intrusive, simple accompaniment to an excellent Heeren entree as part of their Valentine's menu.
