This collab with our Spanish friends from La Pirata is full of black soul a.k.a. Anima Negra. A very rich, and big Mexicake with a whopping 14% alc.

We used a double mash, infusing double the flavor into this beer. A full flavour experience with tones of chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, spice, caramel, almond, smokiness and mokka. It's big, it's heavy, it's super tasty.

330 ml bottle. Pours a thick black with little head. Aromas of chocolate syrup, spicy peppers, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Rich sweet flavors follow same with nice pepper and alcohol heat to balance the sweet. Great stuff and doesn’t really show the 14% ABV.

33cl Fles van De Laat. Zwarter dan zwarte kleur, bruine kraag die snel verdwijnt. Pepers, zwarte Engelse drop, gebrande mout, wat kaneel, niet echt pikant, lactose is gelukkig ook niet heel aanwezig, bittere droppige finish. Medium tot volle body, glad mondgevoel.

Bottle. Color: Pitch black, fast disappearing thin brown head. Aroma: Spicy, roasted malt, cocoa. Taste: Sweetish, vanilla, roasted malt, spicy, peppery, earthy, dark chocolate and caramel fudge, cinnamon and spciy finish. Dry-ish. Full body, low carbonation. Starting medium sweet, going to above average sweet. Sticky mouthfeel. Light to moderate bitterness. Ok, but no wow factor for me.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Kulenborgse Bierhandel.
Pitch black with a small dark beige head. Smokey roasted malts aroma with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and some fruity chili pepper. Sweet taste with a sweet smooth spicy finish with even a little heat from the chili. 14% ABV is not noticeable at all. Carbonation is very low but that doesn't matter as this one is a sipper by design. Wonderfully complicated, strange and lovely.
