(Bottle, 0.65l, thanks Joni, 20240405) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had toasted malts, vanilla, wood and sweet rye notes. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, wood, sweet rye malts, vinous notes and bitterness. Aftertaste had wood, alcohols and bitterness. Pleasant burnt brew with barrel notes.

2021 bottle drunk 3/14/24. Clear, dark. Tan head quickly to ring. Nutty, chocolatey and malty, but also lots of green bell pepper. Lotta barrel spice, lotta chocolate and caramel. Some light alcohol. Rich, malty, borderline syrupy with good depth and tons of rye. Spicy, with lots of cacao and thankfully no bell pepper in the flavor. Excellent beer per usual. It's not boozey in the flavor but the rye is very strong.

Likely the best selection out of a visit to a Total Wine in Austin a few months ago. We shall see shortly. A late winter cold front came through last night making this a good day for an imperial stout. The label on the 22 oz bottle says it was part of Release#3 and the contents are rated at 11.5%alc./vol. Just like that. My oldest and most-used tasting glass came from New Belgium and is prepared for the pour. I see a brown/black body finished with a bare cover of dark tan foam that promptly settles to a taupe ring. And the scent is heavy with chocolate along with wheat bread and some booziness working its way up. A drink ultimately, well, this is good. Bakers chocolate, pecans, dark bread, a hint of caramel, a bit of leather and toasted malt. I don't care if it is bourbon or rye, a whiskey presence is welcome in any imperial stout and I get it here.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, molasses, wood and bourbon. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 140223

3/2/2023. Bottle shared by Colin, cheers. Utah rating #5. Pours close to black with a few small beige bubbles. Super aroma, rye whiskey, dark chocolate, roasted malt, wood, fudge brownie, molasses, light spice, peppery notes. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, with more pepper to taste. Full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Worked well for me.

Bottle (Release #3) at Malmö Crew Christmas tasting at Palace Hall (17/12/2022) - roasted and sweet malty with silky sweet chocolate, some molasses and fudge like sweetness, coffee roast, charred brown sugar, full bodied, dark malty into the finish. Lovely.

Bottle shared in Canary Wharf - cheers to Cloin. Pours black-brown with a bubbly, beige head. Moderate sweetness, dark chocolate, burnt toast, earth, light ashy roast, nips of raisin and coffee. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warmth to finish, rounded dark malts, toasted barrel, baking cocoa. Good stuff.
