Smooth and easy drinking, this bitter pale ale is inspired by the US craft beer boom using four hop varieties, and has a light citrus taste.

pint from the Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury. Clear amber colour, with a thin off-white head. The aroma is citrus with some malts. The taste isn’t that hoppy, but has bit of citrus hoppiness and some caramel. A bit disappointed.

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. Amber with a ring of white head; aroma of citrus and woody hops; light floral taste with some citrus and a weak finish. Rather basic.

Clear golden brown with thin white head. Nice aroma with citrus and pine hop notes, with some toasty biscuity hints. Light body, medium somewhat fizzy carbonation. Hops feature in the taste from start to finish, but are not aggressive. They give a nice citrusy freshness at the start and a good bitterness in the finish. However there isn’t really enough balance in terms of malt or other flavours. Nice bitter hoppy beer but seems unbalanced.

Amber to light brown. Strong citrusy aroma. Flavour also has bitter and sharp citrus peel. Pleasant malty background too.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Corstorphine. Pours clear copper, thick off-white head. Aromas are metallic, light citrus, caramel malt. Taste is quite bitter, but lacks a citrus punch, just bitter. Light body, thin finish. Ok.

50cl bottle from Tesco, Wokingham. Amber with a thin white head; grassy hop aroma with some muted tropical fruit; rather thin and unbalanced - there are defintely some hops in there, but they don’t marry well with the sweet caramel of the malts; the finish has some spicy hopr and then lingering sweet biscuit. GK have produced some decent beers recently - but this isn’t one of them.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is tropical fruit grassy hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth, hoppy light bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A nice fruity hop summer ale.
