Smooth and easy drinking, this bitter pale ale is inspired by the US craft beer boom using four hop varieties, and has a light citrus taste.

50cl bottle courtesy of and shared with JMGreenUK. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. Nice subtle bitterness. Good for the low abv.

Clear 500ml Bottle: BBD Apr 2015. Poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint vase at home after a spot of gardening on 6th June 2014. Looked OK, amber and bright with an off-white, lasting head. I couldn’t take to the beer though: something amiss. Strange toffee and mini citrus aroma didn’t marry together very well and the taste continued in the same way. A metallic twang didn’t help. Greene King do produce some fine beers, this however is not one of them.

Bottle from Tesco Extra, Aylesbury, Bucks, Tuesday 3rd June 2014 consumed the same day. Pours orangey/gold, clear as yer’ like with a white head. A little boiled sweet, orange and sweet malt, a touch hoppy but not particularly so. I don’t dislike this, however it does have that typical GK flavour throughout which does lose it a mark. 500ml bottle from local supermarket. Golden brown with a thin head. Aroma hasn’t got a lot of hops, the taste doesn’t have them either. Not sure why it’s called Hoppy, unless the old hen they refer to had only one leg.

500ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is tea, toffee and soapy lemon. Taste is spicy and bready, with the stock UK toffee dead bottled ale thing going on. A touch of soapy ginger.

Bottle from Tesco and drunk at home. Clear amber colour lasting beige head. Aroma of GK house yeast. Yes quite hoppy in the mouth. Some toffee. Bit watery. Certainly a hoppy effort. Slightly better than your average GK beer.

500ml Bottle from Tesco - Another classic clear bottle fail. Don’t know what was going on with this, but the only words I wrote for this were metallic and cheap. Skunked? Nuff said.
