There's nothing wrong with a little dessert! Our latest small-batch sour is called Cherry Pie - take one sip and you'll see exactly why. We used a blend of sweet and sour cherries with a touch of almond and vanilla for a tart, refreshing sour that's balanced by a hint of sweetness. It really is like biting into a slice of cherry pie with a graham cracker crust!

Can from the lcbo. Murky dark red, with a medium off white head. Aroma is a blast of pie crust, and vanilla. Honey, and soft cherry pie filling. Full mouth feel, with a soft carb. Tart cherry pie, with a butt load of vanilla.

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Red with lots of floaties. Butter, condensed milk, vanilla, cherries, sourish. Not so good.

On tap at Collective Arts in Santa Ana. Pours clear dark ruby red with a medium sized dark pink head, light lacing. Graham cracker, sweet cherries, mild tart. They hit the name right on this one, tasty

Can, just called Cherry Pie Sour but still 7.5% and labelled Imperial fruited pastry sour. Dark purple colour, no head. The aroma is cola, graham cracker, vanilla, and maybe a bit of cherry. Heavy on the pie aspect. On the palate, has that pie filling character, which isn't my favourite. Heavy vanilla, and some alcohol late. Moderate tartness, and the almond extract shows up a bit in the finish as well.

Tarter than I expected for a pastry sour. I get the aroma of the vanilla more than I do the flavor.

A burgundy red ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity cherry malt with light buttery notes, light vanilla, OK. In mouth, sweet cherry pulp, light vanilla, light buttery notes, OK. Can.

Quite a sweet dessert nose with what seems chocolate, caramel, but the cherries are in the background. Hazy red with a slight pinkish frothy head, average retention and some light foamy lacing spots. The taste is thankfully not as sweet, as the sour cherry flavours cut through this, and the dry mouthfeel is not syrupy. Hints of Graham cookies linger, and very mild tart. Quite a nice one with more alcohol for a sour, fruity one.

473ml can. Pours a beautiful hazy magenta with a small, creamy, long lasting, pale pink head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of graham cracker, vanilla and light cherry. Sweet flavour of cherry, lemon, graham cracker and vanilla in a dry, tart finish. Medium to full body with a thick, creamy, smooth, pillowy soft texture and soft carbonation. Tasty and ABV is well hidden. Gimmicky, but well executed.
