Translation: Porter -Porter- Malduguns is the king of the dark end. The dark and complete line that dominates the malt is dominated by light roasting and soft coffee notes. Northdown hop is added to balance.
Note: Initially 6.7%/32 IBU.

On tap at Patrick's. A black one, with a small dark beige head. Some lacing. Gentle aroma with dark dried fruit, some roasted malts and licorice, a burnt hint and a wee hint of alcohol. It's surprisingly mellow on the palate, smooth and soft, with some bitterness. Dryish, even though it's quite sweet. Lasting finish. Dangerously easy drinkable, although quite heavy on the alcohol. 230623

Tap @ Patricks. Almost black body under a moderate sized beige head. Nice aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some caramel. Taste is medium sweet roasted, dark malt with same coffee/chocolate/caramel elements as found in aroma. Balanced bitterness and all over pretty smooth and refreshing. Balanced body and fine aftertaste. So nice sitting outside the pub in the sun.

Draught@HBF2018. Deep brown, close to black colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar and some slight caramel tones. Flavour is pretty much the same elements as the aroma, but also has a slight alcohol touch to it.

30/5/2020. Bottle from Lauvas Alus, Riga. Pours almost black with a dark purple tint and a small beige head. Aroma of sweet and light roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits and berries, touch of pine. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Light toasted finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle at Alus Celle, Riga Nose is a slightly sweet musty vanilla. Pours pretty much completely black, with a small beige head. In the mouth the initial impression is of the smoothness. Vanilla provides a good base to highlight coffee, chocolate, cocoa and caramel. Soft carbonation leads to a milky coffee finish. This is rather nice – very drinkable (almost quaffable) for 7 percent. Nicely understated – proves Malduguns can make great beers which are “in your face” hoppy.
