Bottle from Zythos. Hazy black, small, tan head. Aroma of coffee cream, mocha, brandy, wood, liqueur-filled pralines. Taste has sweetish raisin & pear in milk-chocolatey, creamy malt body with a soft bitter mocha note. Herbal hoppy finish, wood, some spices and warming brown rum-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Tasty, but doesn't necessarily thrive on a sherry profile.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a roughish, beige head. Sweet vanilla and oak accents atop a subtle roastiness. Sweet and malty, a little thin perhaps, licorice and roast with distinct, oaky tannins. Dry finish with a hint of tartness. Not so much Sherry in there. The label claims barrels, I would've suspected oak chips only. 160522

Zythos 2022. Very dark brown with thin head. Some burned, caramel malts. Sweet, a bit jammy. Thin bodied and too gassy.

Pours black (still some red shine) . Medium sized off-white head. Fairly stable, medium creamy. Scent is very mild. Some roastyness, some 'milky' aspects from the lactose. No clear barrel. Taste is surprisingly thin and sharp, even bitter. Somewhat ashy. PX barrel is completely lost (which is unfortunate) Not at all as sweet as you'd expect from a milkstout. I get a touch of acidity, not sure at this stage if it's from the roastyness of the malts ( which I do suppose) or an early stage of infection (no off aroma's like acetic acid though). Truth be told I expected a lot more, and different than this result.
