We feel this beer is the pinnacle of what a stout can be – creamy, smooth, rich and chocolatey.

This stout was aged in Union Horse bourbon barrels for 12 months and left unblended. The barrels provide strong notes of prune and raisin with that classic oaky vanilla from the bourbon.

Drink fresh or cellar for years to come!

Draft pour enjoyed at Barnside. No vintage listed, so I'm leaving this rating right here. Somewhat thin appearance to ghis big stout. Less than black, dark brown pout, very thin head. Whiskey fronted nose, some vanilla wafer like notes. Flavor really surprises me here. Really tasty, super flavorful with equal parts dark chocolate, smooth bourbon, and vanilla. Drinks very smooth for what it is. Less than boozy long lingering finish. Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the maple version.

650 ml bottle. Pours Planck with a short, dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate cookies, thick bourbon, vanilla, and sweet slick roasted malts. Flavors of oaky bourbon, nutty dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Bitter somewhat acidic chocolate finish.

Jet black body and little foam. Aroma is very boozy with some soft bourbon hints. Taste is nice bourbon, good cocoa, wood notes and the bourbon lingers with barley notes. Very nice, if a little heavy.

Black colour; small, creamy brown head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, and whiskey, not as much vanilla as one would get from other Bourbons. Smooth mouthfeel, round body, some chocolate, some spirit, but lacking of depth, and a sad weak finish for such beers, apart from something that tastes like coffee and spirit.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Black with minimal tan head. Roast and bourbon with muted oak and molasses. Really lacking depth here. Unimpressed.

22oz @ Matt's parents' place with an unhidden scenic view. Appearance: very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: some apples, burnt bourbon barrel. Taste: sludgy, moderate thickness, roasted, burnt barrel, some leather. Overall: nah, not really good. Looks like that neither base beer nor barrel quality was good.

Dark brown. No head. Sticky dark sugars. It's medium-sized, drinkable, has more dark sugars, light fruit. The flavours don't necessarily come together all that well, even if they seem pretty good. The base needs more to really make this work.

650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals a very nice bourbon barrels, light vanilla, a touch of oak, and gentle roast. Flavour is full of molasses, moderate bourbon, and some sludgy roast. Rather sludgy, thick, low-to-moderate sweetness, and not all that integrated. It's decent, but pretty haphazard.
