The First release in our “New Orthodox” IPA series, M-43 is designed to accentuate the deep and complex character from the combination of Calypso, Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops. Citrus and Tropical notes of Pineapple, Mango and Grapefruit come through in the huge, yet surprisingly delicate aroma. The flavor backs these aromas with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Hop bitterness is not particularly intense, which leads to a very drinkable, juicy IPA even non-IPA fans love. The Haze is not from yeast, but rather from an interplay of lipids from the malted oat and oils and acids which naturally occur in the hand selected Dry hops. This beer is a perfect interplay between top grade malt and hops, MI water and brewing technique which cannot be faked.

Can from bierhalle dekoninck. Drank from the can, to perserve volotile hoparoma, so no info on the pour. Smell is creamy, hoppy, quite fresh ( the beer is 3 months, so it seems ) . Taste is full on hops (hmm ) creamy, but not AS creamy as others in the NEIPA style. Hoparoma has clearly been set back over this time, which is simply too long for a NEIPA i supose. Bitterness is just a tad high, maltyness is where this beer goes a bit wrong for me. It's not subtile and creamy, but it's really fighting the hops here. Along with the bitterness, it gives a really distorted taste, hell, even a tad of sourness ( not as much as an infection would give ) that really doesn't belong. perhaps due to the age though, we'll see if I can ever get one that's more fresh.

On tap at Ford's Garage near the Hetey Ford Museum. This beer is cloud and looks like fruit juice. Light hop aroma with citrus and flowers. Very light, soft palate. Fruit juice, orange and other citrus, pineapple. Lightly sweet and a lightly tart bite with bitter hops. A fine New England style ipa.

Very hazy golden pour with a thin off-white head. Notes of passion fruit, sweet grapefruit, mango, clementines, ripe grapes. Not bitter at all, and not overly sweet, a milder (less wild) NE IPA, overall very balanced. --- Beer merged from original tick of M-43 N.E. India Pale Ale on 20 Apr 2018 at 20:06 - Score: 8. Original review text: Quite good, virtually no bitterness and less sweetness than your average NE IPA
