@Epicure, Namur. Bitter, Citrussy and grassy. Too much carbonation. Ok but not outstanding.

Yet another 'bierfirma' attempting to cash in on the craft beer hype with a single beer - it seems as if every third person and their cat are commercializing beer in Belgium (and not only Belgium) these days. Anyway, let's give this one a chance, intended as a dry-hopped Belgian style IPA. Firm and thick, very frothy, pillowy, egg-white, densely foamy, tightly lacing head weighing on a misty 'old gold' coloured beer with ochre-ish tinge. Aroma of freshly cut orange, dried wormwood leaves, white bread slices, red apple, baker's yeast, raw parsnip, ripe pineapple, dried grapefruit peel, rainwater, damp earth, touch of mango or even cantaloupe somewhere. Fruity, crisp onset, hint of banana but nowhere bubblegummy, impressions of yellow kiwi, nectarine and pineapple, sweetish but not over the top, souring effect from lively, yet not harshly numbing, mineral-evoking carbonation; soft, fluffy mouthfeel from soft, soggy-bready and lightly bread crumb-like maltiness, light honeyish sweetish note, spicy and yeasty finish in which a modern, citric hop profile tries to shine, but remains a bit muffled by estery, spicy-phenolic and malty effects. Still a mild grapefruit-ish bitterness is established, with a drying effect as well as spicy, subtly wormwoody accents; yeasty breadiness and fruitiness remain equally strong, though. IPA only in the present-day Belgian sense of the word: an indeed clearly dry-hopped and very IPA-inspired, but basically still fruity, yeasty and malt sweet Belgian blonde. Too prudent to really make a difference I think, but in all an enjoyable, refreshing and quite elegant Belgian ale. I would not have minded more hop bitterness - not to mention more citric hop aroma and less yeastiness, but technically there certainly is nothing wrong here. Not bad at all, but still - to a beer geek - feeling a bit like a missed opportunity in really making a difference on the fuzzy and largely underachieving Belgian IPA market.

Bottle in Café Bebo, Brussels, in the company of Dad, Barry and Scott Thursday 7th March 2018 Pours hazy warm gold with a sticky white head. Almost a touch saison like, nice yeasty edge, a little dry, good bitterness. It's a bit like an IPA/Saison, hybrid, I expect its just the Belgian yeast. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Pours clear blonde, very big white, seemingly stable white, pillowy head. Smell is esthery, mild grassy bitterness. european hops. Bit malty ( pale malt ) Taste is full, funky, has a certain barnyard to it. Rotten, but in a good way. like a geuze has funk, but without the wild side / brett / Sourness. very natural-like taste. Mild sulphuric notes ( not botheringly ) medium bitterness. Average body, medium-high to average carbonation.

Not a lot of hop for a dry-hopped beer…
