Well balanced and full of malt with just a hint of caramel, which leads to a long lasting roasted taste.

A very dark with a much thinner texture than its appearance would suggest. Has little aroma but a good creamy head and a slight caramel taste.

Cask at The Market Porter, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy, tan head. Some toasty caramel in the nose. Light sweet flavor, some ripe and semi-dark fruits, light sugary bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Semi-sweet finish, faintly dry, some fruits, mild toffee, toasty caramel. Not bad. Very basic.

Cask gravity at Bricklayers Arms 2nd Annual Yorkshire BF 08. Very deep ruby with thin beige head. Some dark malts, some decent fruit. Very little hop. Decent strong dark beer. 3.4/5 Re-rate at The Old Fountain, Old Street. Cellar run from the very good landlord. Corking condition, dark brown with lasting beige head. It’s a decent strongish dark beer, hard to put a style to it. Not choccy enough to be a porter, not roasted enough for a stout. Some good sourish fruit. An old ale then? Good everthing. Really nice fruit, good dry finish. Dark plums all over it, some dark choc. Excellent.
