650 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate creamy tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, apples, and a little alcohol. Flavors of same minus the apples and diced with cognac/brandy. Hot. Very good but not great, especially for the hefty price.

Tasting at Matt’s; AB/2 2016, blue wax
Black color with brown small head. Nice aroma of roasted malts, alcohol, dark bread. Strong body, the strong alcohol content cuts through it; moderate sweetness; nice chocolate malt flavor; the evident brandy presence, although not boozy, is muting the malt experience.
Very good beer, not very elegant.

Dark brown. Not actually that much head. Has nice rich chocolate nose that shows off the apple brandy. The palate is rich chocolate, wood, a lot of apple character, a fair bit of alcohol, and rich caramels. If you like caramel apples, you’re happy with this one. The balance is nice, and I appreciate the way that the rich base beer is powerful but then the apple brandy is strong enough to make its own impression. Very good.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out light brandy barrels, oak and roasted malt. Flavour is super complex, with lots of brandy barrels, some bourbon-like notes, oak and roasted malt. Impeccably well-balanced, with very deep complexity. Wonderfully barrel-aged. Phenomenal stuff.

Draft - Apple and nice sweet boozy barrel notes. Deep brown black with a decent beige head. Nice apple brandy, woody barrel notes and a nice bitterness.

Bomber from Craft Beer Kings. Pours dark brn/blk with a large tan head. Aroma of chocolate and smooth dark malt, and I think some seeded fruit is trying to assert its presence. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, wood, smooth dark malt, and I really think I get a "Calvados" aspect. Very mild heat. It’s a subtle and tasty devil.

Sample at Kurtkeller 025: Eclipse-tastic 01 on 12/23/2016. Pours black with some brown around the edges, and a medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oaky vanilla, malt, apple and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky apple brandy, chocolate malt and roast coffee. The finish is roasty and fruity with an apple and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle from Beermongers. Pours a pure black color with a medium white head. A big sticky sweet brandy nose. Lovely tropical barrel, almost pineapple, no really is pineapple notes, sweet, brown sugar, hot, light vanilla and roast. Really rich and super smooth. This is very drinkable, one of the most accessible Eclipses I’ve had. Lovely palate. Just great.
