Inspirations for our beers come from everywhere. Sometimes it’s like the universe is telling us there needs to be a beer. It sounds pretentious and, in a way, it is… But with the release of this Omnipollo® German style pilsner we are in the center of a vortex of incidences telling us that all we want to drink is a truly well-crafted pilsner.
My own pilsner journey started long ago, and pilsner is still my favorite style of beer, but it totally seems like the right time to celebrate this style. The signs are there. Like when your favorite rapper doesn’t enjoy the IPA you had planned to brew in his honor, saying “none of that fruity stuff”. Or the fact that for the last couple of years, all brewers at festivals will not be found drinking the latest hype brew, but instead gathering at the tap of whoever brought a classic pilsner.
A pils is sort of like your favorite t-shirt, you wear it often, but it is never a loud statement. So we raise our (pilsner) glass to you, and hope you will enjoy Devins German style pilsner and the rest of our pilsner journey. Be curious, be classic.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 5D). Can 33 cl - Batch VF2063 (BBF 17/10/19) AROMA: medium grainy aroma with a light sweet character. low herbaceous hop note. APPEARANCE: pale gold colour and clear. medium-low white head with medium-low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with initial medium grainy and slightly sweet malt profile, followed by low hop notes with an herbaceous character. medium-high bitterness with a dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an ok german pils with a more muted hop profile.

12 ounce can into lager glass; no can dating, but was just released locally. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good balance of pale malts and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Light lingering resins through the glass. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice German pilsner. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great balance between clean pils malts and earthy German noble hops. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected.

Can at Chit Beer, Koh Kret, Thailand. Poured a hazy golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, pilsner yeast, light citrus, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a light, slightly watery, gluey malt, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not the best beer from Omnipollo.h

Pour is kind of chalky looking yellow with a small white head. Aroma is a nice wet dough and cracker malt. Flavor is again a nice bready and clean malt with some mineral lager yeast on the after taste. Super bready malt with a clean and refreshing finish. This beer is way under rated IMO.

A light yellow beer, a head is big and white. Aroma has grain, fruitness of citrus, some grass. Taste has grain, some fruitness, quite mild bitterness, but dry enough. Medium bodied, quite smooth. Not a typical pils with the all fruitness, but nice beer.

$4.50 can from Beer Run. Pale gold, hint of haze, large white head. Cracker, grain, green aroma. Bitter greens, cracker, glue flavor. I don't think I saw the price before picking this one up. Not worth the $. Very ordinary.
