0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Pitch black body with a thin brown head. Bourbon dominates the aroma and the taste with notes of chocolate, sour cherries, nutmeg and some floral hops. A bit too strong, but still nice.

Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout by one of Switzerland's leading craft breweries, batch HD190551 apparently, for what it's worth. Mousy, medium thick but quickly opening and thinning, deep brownish-mocha coloured, even- and small-bubbled head on a black beer with hazy mahogany brown edges. Strong aroma with bourbon upfront but also a notable brown rum-like aspect, followed by a complex palette of unsugared black chocolate, walnuts, cold Irish coffee, lots of vanilla from the oak wood, polished oak furniture, green apples, dried grapes, kahlua, bay leaf, charcoal, toffee, black currants, wood glue, toasted coconut flakes, burnt raisins, nail polish remover, fresh paint, mocha ice cream, ground pecan nuts, blood-like iron, fresh figs, caramel. Sweet onset, raisins and pear but also a pronounced green apple-like aspect, sourish elderberry-like undertone, light black olive-like umami note, gently tingling carbonation, very oily body thinned a bit by alcohol. Chocolate sauce-, walnut- and toffee-like malts with pecan-nutty edge, bittersweet with more coffeeish bitterness towards the end, the bitterness accentuated by spicy, lingering hops but more so by very strong, heating booze, very bourbon-flavoured of course but also, again, brown rum-like; lovely bittersweet 'chocolateyness' with a coffee touch lingers, while retronasally, I get a lot of less attractive solventy effects (nail polish remover) as well as strong, much more appealing vanilla-like oakiness. Long, warming, intense finish, not lacking in complexity. Seemingly quite a lot of bourbon was still left in the barrels when they were filled with stout, a bit too much so for my personal liking, as the bourbon does dominate a lot of the attractive features of the beer (which, for all clarity, I haven't had in its regular form - yet); nevertheless a very tasty one, ideal as a slow sipper on a chilly Sunday evening. Maybe softens a bit when given enough time - too bad I never seem to find the patience and discipline to allow this kind of beers to mature...

Bottle. Almost black. Bourbon, vanilla, dried grapes in the aroma. Amandelspijs. Malty sweet flavor with figs, dried fruit, roast, hint of licorice, amandelspijs, bourbon. Very sweet of course, but enough other flavors to compensate.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Billie’s Beer Festival 2018. Day 2. Black syrp. Nose is overly harsh alcohol, medicinal alcohol. Too hot alcoholic, boozy varnish, chocolate syrup, mocha, coffee. Pure syrup. Way too much harsh alcohol.
