Santas Calaveras CHIPOTE-LES is a saison type blond beer brewed with chipotle as well as dried and smoked mexican chilli pepper. In its taste, we find subtle flavors of smoke, spices, tropical and citrus fruits. It has an average body for a spicy and slightly bitter finish. CHIPOTE-LES is a beer of character that warms the body and the spirit but doesn't burn the throat!

Hops: Magnum, Citra, Ekuanot. Malts: Pils, Vienna, Oats, Crystal. Yeast: Belle Saison.

Flaska från No Science webshop. Riktigt trevlig.

33cl bottle from Le Comptoir Belge in Brussels. F: medium, white, good retention. C: pale gold, hazy. A: malty, fruity, spicy, bit honey, peach. T: medium malty base, fruity, banana, bit warming spicy more intense after several sips, herbal, bready, bit soapy, bit phenolic, higher carbonation, not bad yet bit overrated here, enjoyed.

Bottle@home. Pours blond, hazy. Abundant head. Aromas are spicy, medical (I couldn't stop thinking of rubbing alcohol). Smooth, tender texture with spicy taste (and a note of petrol). Very strange, this one.

18/VI/19 - 33cl bottle from a trade, shared @ home, BB: 12/III/19 - (2019-861) Thanks to Bierridder_S for the trade!
Clear blond to bold beer, huge fizzy white head, falls down quickly. Aroma: pretty fruity, some citrus notes, banana, spicy, some coriander, some ripe tropical fruits. MF: very lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit malty up front, spicy, pretty fruity, some citrus, bitter. Aftertaste: spicy, coriander, bit fruity, citrus, bitter hops, dry, more fruits, some orange peel. Where's them chipotle chillies? Getting no heat here... :(

Bouteille 33cl, BB 19/06/2020.

Another new contract brewer trying to bring modern spiced ales under our attention, this time using chipotle peppers in a saison environment; brewed at Valduc and bottled in a non-Belgian style longneck bottle with flashy label. Light gusher, but manageable. Cobweb-lacing, off-white, irregularly moussy head over misty apricot blonde beer with ochre-ish hue and vivid sparkling. Aroma of dried apricot, raw green bell pepper (the chipotle without a doubt), honey, green banana, raw pita flatbread, cherry tomato, green melon, pineapple. Sweetish and sourish onset, very sharp and painfully stinging overcarbonation with lots of minerally effects; banana peel, apple and peach notes. Thinly bready, bit grainy malt bill with ongoing mild estery effect leads towards a mildly peppery finish, revealing chipotle only in a generic spicy way but remaining very subtle in capsaicin heat; some phenolic and earthy-yeasty notes surround this spiciness. Indeed a classic Belgian style saison with a twist, not badly executed at all, but for me personally it could have had a lot more pepper heat.

28/06/2018 - 33cl bottle on train, bought from the brewer @ Summer Pops, Schaarbeek. Drank from the bottle. Nose is fine fresh fruity & bitter hops, herbal touch and spicy. Taste is first fruits from the hops, bitterness and at the end the heavy spicy touch from the chipotle that comes through really fine when needed, just at the end. Damn nice if this is one of your first beers.
