Toasted Lager was originally named for the “toasted” characteristic of our original direct-fire brick kettle. Our World Beer Cup gold medal winning flagship brew is brewed with a blend of six specialty malts for a flavor as rich and unique as the town it’s from. Toasted Lager’s balanced flavor of malt and hops makes for easy drinking and our special proprietary lager yeast produces an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish.

Bottle at home in Beer Hawk advent calendar. More of an ale than a lager and a surprising richness to the beer. A dark colour, little head and a strong sweet maltiness to the beer. Perhaps a bit too sweet for me.

From Apr 2007

This pours from 12oz bottle(best by June 2007) a clear amber with a huge head of foam that shrinks fairly quickly leaving a fine broken layer with some lacing.

The smell has a big nose of sweet malt and has a bit of a fruity note to it.

The taste on first sip has a caramel malt flavour with some hop bitterness in the background to take the edge off the sweetness.

Further sips in and I'm getting just a wee touch of spice...I'd call it cinnamon. There's also some graininess and a bit of tartness. The mouthfeel is on the light side and tends to be watery at times but the flavours keep me interested enough to make me kind of over look that negative. The finish is somewhat biscuity and ends slightly on the bitter side. This is pretty good stuff.

Bottom line: I like this Amber Lager and I thank jwc215 for including this in our trade!

Can, on the airplane. Light brown colour, thin head. Aroma is much more caramelly than toasty. Same thing on the palate...it's really a sweet, caramelly lager, and that's it.

Another disappointment. With a toasted lager I would have expected some significant toast to it, but no. In the aroma I did pick up a hint along with some malt and fresh beer. Flavor has the barest suggestion of toast, lots of malt and significant bitterness more of a bitter sweet or a Sweet Bitter. Sweet up front and a slight bitter finish. An okay beer but nothing worth getting excited about.

Keg at Rose and Thistle, Frimley. Vague grassy aroma. Amber. Thick fluffy off-white head. Down in the dial taste-wise - light bitter, umami. It doesn’t really register. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Abrupt finish. It’s perfectly pleasant and rate the palate and appearance. But there’s nothing to it. Enjoyable whilst simultaneously being inconsequential as far as taste goes. Hmmm. Difficult one.

Bottle from Asda. Deep amber in colour, with a tight, white, head and plenty of carbonation. Sweetish, malty aroma, with hints of leafy hop and toastiness. Easy drinking, with more sweet malts, some caramel and a moderately bitter finish. A solid lager.
