"Some people paint, some sing, others write...I brew." --Daniel Carey

A few times a year we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. The bottle you hold is handcrafted for the adventurous soul. We brewed this one small batch, and make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Warning: Caution. Our Imperial IPA will smack you In-Your-Face. This is an aggressively hoppy IPA. An explosion of hops including East Kent Golding, Cascade, Tomahawk, Warrior and Chinook dominate this pale summer brew. IBUs delivered like you’ve never enjoyed before. Our imperial IPA is alive with a bottle fermentation that catapults hop aromas to the front with bitter notes that will dance till dawn on your palate. Serve immediately at 45 degrees F. Thanks for Supporting the Arts.

Bottle from StewardofGondor, drunk on 1/11/2006. A small white head perched atop a rusty, golden-hay colored body. Light haze. Fruit juicy hops command a strong presence and the orange-rind notes especially add a good deal of perceived bitterness. Long before becoming lost in the forest of pine, a moderate dose of thick caramel sweetness, round and sticky, brings things to a balance. Not exactly tropical fruits, but citrus zest and a very fresh green, oozing hop oiliness that nearly suggests light herbal qualities. Head remains retained at cover while a steady trickle of tiny bubbles rise from the well-sedimented bottom. The flavor opens up bitter and lightly piney, though by no means does the bitterness outshine the flavor. Rich candied oranges and cherries and a rush of sweet caramel sugars, carried on by a gentle but engaging carbonation. pine notes nestle in, but on the finish, a light sourish/melanoidin maltiness is apparent adding strength to the malt complexity. Moderate amount of acidity on the finish emphasizes the style while a light warming sensation grows on the tongue. Yeasty, dry, earthiness on the aftertaste and lightly so in the aroma. Despite the piney hops, herbs, citrus and just plain bushy, leafy, green flavors are delicately extracted from the hops. Perhaps a smidgeon too much acidity and munich malt combo, but little to critique. Head eventually fades to ring, leaving a thick film on the glass from the highly sedimented liquid. Low filtration, bottle conditioning provide the wonderful, gentle effervescence and lightly creamy, sticky texture. Alcohol plays no role, nor does the beer thin out.

An orange beer wih no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops. The flavor is sweet hoppy combined with a slight note of alcohol - leaving a slight burn, as well as notes of citrus, leading to a dry hoppy end.

Not as good as their Hop Hearty IPA, this one is more herbal and bitter. Aroma is mostly hops, and the flavor is bitter with some sour citrus. Very nice body and well balanced.

Thanks to MrFacto for sharing this one prior to our Chattanooga gathering. A large white head leads off for this medium yellow colored brew. Light malt behind a fresh bright hop aroma. Malt sweetness and hop bitterness are nicely balanced in this enjoyable IIPA. I hope they continue this brew even though the New Glarus brews come my way all too rarely.
