This singular amber ale, brewed with a touch of smoked malt whisky, offers the delicate taste of fine Belgian yeast and caramelized apples.
It celebrates the courage and festive spirit of the log drivers of yesteryear.

On tap. Pours with a hazy golden body with a lasting white head. Aromas are floral, honey, estery, rose petals, flowers, bready malt. Hint of smoke and light vanilla. Not a strong example of smoke, and the Unibroue yeast is toned down much more than usual. Flavors of coriander, malty, sweet, honey, light smoke/whiskey, and vanilla. Medium bubbles with a dry finish.

750mL bottle, pours hazy dark copper / murky brownish orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, light spices and orange rind - didn't detect any smoke. The smoke comes out more in the flavour, with some yeast and dry orange zest. Decent - definitely not one of Unibroue's best.

355 ml bottle from four beer sampler pack at Trader Joes Bakersfield. Nose is very lightly smoky bacon in a typical Belgian ale with banana, a hint of vanilla, and candi sugar sweetness. Verly lightly hazy amber with a two finger beige head. Flavor is bananas, light sweetness, light spiciness, and some yeastiness. Not very smoky!

Pours dark amber with a large lasting head.Nose shows typical Unibroue house yeast with loads of spicy phenols. Some faint apple and sweet clean malt noticeable later.Flavours include more of that unmistakeable yeast, some spicy notes, and hints of hot alcohol. Not much going on...Very light body, moderate carbonation. Seems watery.
