This singular amber ale, brewed with a touch of smoked malt whisky, offers the delicate taste of fine Belgian yeast and caramelized apples.
It celebrates the courage and festive spirit of the log drivers of yesteryear.

Poured with a nice big head, nice brown colour too. Had a good taste of malts and hops, but seemed slightly artificial; more artifical than I expected. But it’s still a great Unibroue product, seemed to be in low circulation. Found in Montreal a long time ago.

Darkish amber copper color with a bubbly off-white head. Aromas of yeast and smoke. Ahh! My favorite beer some years ago, and then it became unavailable in my area. Back in a mixed 4 pack. Very frothy carbonation and near medium body. Flavor is lightly smoky malt. Nice yeast aspects. A bit light in some ways, but an extremely satisfying ale.

Pour is a murky looking brown with an average tan head. Aroma is fruity esters and typical Unibroue yeast. Flavor is not as complex as other Unibroue beers. Mostly there is a decent helping of dark roasted malts with some candi sugar toward the end. Not a smoked by any means. More of a Belgian dunkelweise and something to at least try once.

Had this at European Beer festival 13-09-08 Pours mid amber with white rim around the edges. Some light smokiness on the nose but not so much. Tastes ok if a little simple, quite sessionable.

Decent beer that reminded me a lot of a dunkel weizen. Rather light taste, and although I got a hint of smoke in the nose, there was very little in the mouth. I was a bit disappointed. Reasonably complex, though.

Bottled. Very lively beer. Hazy murky reddish brown colour with big off/white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some syrup as well as quite grassy, flowery and fruity hops. Mild notes of smoke. Flavour is sweet malts, mild notes fruits, nectar, syrup and some wooden notes. The smokyness in this one is very close to non-existant. Instead this would be a very good Belgian Ale if you want to do it stylewise.
