As with most stouts, the predominant character of this ale is a complex roasty aroma and flavor contributed by roasted barley and black patent malts. With Pale malt as the foundation, a combination of 20% rye and other imported specialty malts lends underlying nutty and bready notes to round out the malt character of this dark ale! Our rye stout is designed to let the malts shine through so Nugget and Amarillo hops are used in the brewhouse to add just enough bitterness to achieve balance on the palate.

For those of you who are new to Revolution, we’ve named beers after every song on the Repoman soundtrack including Coup d’Etat and Institutionalized. Check out the movie, if you haven’t. It’s out there. “The life of the Repoman is always intense.”

Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is a nice roasted malt with a little chocolate in there. Flavor is roasted malt, milk chocolate and some spicy rye is left on the tongue. Finish leaves a prickly bitterness. This was a decent to above par stout.

12 oz can from Mariano's. Surprising smell of pears when I pop the tab. Resolves to a spicy rye beer nose once poured. Deep brown beer under a foamy tan head. Taste has a nice complexity. Rye spiciness, fruity ale ferment, and then some lightly bittered hops. It does indeed go down nice and easy, but does not want to be forgotten.

12oz can. Pretty solid Stout. Steady beige head on top of a black body. Creamy, rich, sweet. Rye gives it some malt depth, mor flavor than typical. Still grounded in the style, not pastrified or imperialized. Good.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice chocolate malt with light licorice, vanilla, dark fruits, molasses, beautiful. In mouth, a nice sweet burned caramel and chocolate malt with light licorice, vanilla, aniseed, coffee grind, delicious. On tap at Revolution Milwaukee location.

Sample at The Daily Growler. Pours a nearly opaque brownish-black color with a medium beige head that dissipates slowly to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with a roasty character and flavors of dark malt, coffee and subtle rye. The finish is chocolate malt with a touch of spicy rye left behind. Above average overall.
