2016 bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Thanks Joe! Pours a deep brown to black with a tiny beige head that dissipates. Deep chocolate malt and brownie aromas with cacao nib, dark fruit, oak and light vanilla notes. A bit oxidized unfortunately at this point. Lowish carbonation on the palate with more of the same and an oxidized note that runs though. Lingering chocolate brownie on the finish with bourbon. Would have liked to try fresh.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; 2015 vintage bottling. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, spiced rum, light smoke, and roast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with greart balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon/rum barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, spiced rum, light smoke, and roast/oaky earthiness. Light-moderate roast bitterness and bourbon/rum/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, dark bread, dark fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, bourbon, rum, and roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon/rum barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and rum/bourbon spiciness balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from roast bitter/oak spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Barrel aged imperial stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon/rum barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. The rum barrel adds some nice unique fruity/spicy complexity; while still having a nice balance with the regular bourbon barrel notes. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Thanks hackobock! Opaque black liquid with firm, medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, rum, raw sugar, raisins, toffee, coffee, licorice and cardamom. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, wood and rum. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Really different from the bourbon variant, good though! Much spicier. The cardamom aroma reminds me of the cardamom buns my grandma baked when I was a child.

33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Sarro and Omgrich. Thanks Kyle for hauling this one to Belgium!
