Sometimes the simplest approach is best. In this case, we chose to work with 100% oak-fermented beers that already have an identity of their own. Variations on a Theme deftly combines four of our favorite offerings: Cellarman, Lady in Grey, Four Legs Good, and the wood-aged version of Anaïs. Brought together in this blend, each beer works in harmony to project familiar flavors of our house culture in a new way. Poured into a stemmed-glass, one encounters notes of citrus, melon, leather, oak staves, and coastal minerality. Simple and true, Variations on a Theme is another effort toward fermented bliss.

Unfortunate events bottle, but the blend seems to have worked well from what's left, will have to try again and update this. Oaky funk is there still.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with small white head that diminishes nothing. The aroma is peach flesh, oak, funk. Medium body, juicy, light funk, oak, stone fruit, really enjoyed this.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is very nice with balanced yeast character, malt and oak. Some light grain, bread and cracker malt notes. A bit of citrus, stone fruit, tropical fruit and white wine. Light oak notes with some must and a slight earthiness. A hint of acidity. Pours a slightly hazy, golden hay color with a medium sized. moderately thin, white head that exhibits pretty good retention as it recedes to the edges and lingers for a bit. Light lacing and no legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a light acidity. Some bready grain notes with a bit of a cracker character as well. Light citrus and pineapple notes. A bit more stone fruit and tropical fruit. Medium bitterness. Moderate oak notes with some medium light white wine character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, another very nice beer from SARA. The blend does a great job of showing off the barrels they use as well as their house culture. The malt provides a nice background character. The acidity is present, but is light and unimposing. Well rounded.
