75cl bottle @Kaisla, Helsinki. BBE 2015. Aroma is sour, mild barnyard notes that strongens when beer gets abit warmer. Citrus notes as well. Flavor is slightly similar, citrus fruits, barnyard and slight sourness dominates the palate. Very refreshing, dry, long lingering sweetsour finish. Very enjoyable.

Slight gusher, large head that disappears quickly. Smell is not good, musty, sour and infected. Taste the same: not good, this certainly NOT an IPA! Way too much carbo, medium body.

75 cl Bottle from Ohtsuki. Rather strange and interesting aroma, mostly hops, citrus, grass, some yogurt maybe, metals. The yeast character is definitely Belgian, dry, as in other de Ranke beers. Rather pale yellow-gold with a low, fine head. Light, dry, lemony flavor with brett and huge bitterness coming up behind. Wow, this is bitter. There is a strange candy-like sweetness in front, plus something like vanilla or cream. It is definitely wacky and unbalanced, but I quite like it, although there is quite a strong medicinal edge as well. Wildly bitter, and it lasts. Quite funky, too. Great, crisp, light body. Don’t see why so many people hate it! Maybe the draught version sucked? IPA? No. But very fun, and pure de Ranke!

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy golden beige color ale with a super huge foamy head with great retention and some very nice lacing. Aroma of dry and floral hosp with nice rustic yeast notes. Taste is a well balanced mix between some dry and floral hops with some very nice notes of rustic yeast and a solid semi-dry Belgian malt backbone. Body is full with good bottle-conditioning and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with good level of complexity.

Clear golden coloured body with no movement (bubbles) and a one centimetre tall white head. Pungent hop aroma with some resin and light alcohol too. Medium-bodied; Good mouthfeel, strong hops, a lot of yeast and some alcohol all come out with this one. Finishes with an aftertaste of dry flavours with some hops and a touch of alcohol. Nice, but not like an American IPA by any means. Overall, nice to try - very interesting for sure. I sampled this beer on draught as 25 cL from Chez Moeder Lambic Fontinas in Bruxelles, Belgium on 01-January-2011 for €3,60.

Bottle at Gainsbar, Kortrijk. Hazy amber beer, good white head but it’s short lived. Sherbetty hops in the head - nice! Softish palate, semi dry. Mild carbonated bite in the tail end. Sweet hops! Sweet orange and lesser tropical fruits. Trace of grapefruit. All fresh! A little minerals and a hint of tangy sourness. Semi dry finish. Nice beer, much better than anticipated. Love the sweet hops!

[3/5/11] Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas Brussels. Clear golden. Fruity aroma with light graininess and some hops. Sweet flavor with malt, some honey and fruits, finishes bitter and hoppy. Medium-bodied. Not too fond of the sweetness here but still not bad.

Bottled@Pressklubben, Stockholm. Hazy ambery orange colour with a mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruity, mild alcohol, some rather pleasant maltyness as well as mild spicyness. Flavour is fruity, floral and rather pleasantly malty. Also has some slight spices. Fruity and quite bitter finish.

Pours hazy deep gold into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Orange citrus and biscuit aromas. Soft with bread and hay upfront turning to sweet citrus before the lasting citrus pith finish.
