Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Mahong brown beer with big and beige head. Roasted malts, yeast, spicies, some orange peel, dark fruits and wood in the aroma. Medium bodied with quite high carbonation. Taste is slightly roasted, fruits, some syrup and drying wooden hops in the end. Medium quality belgian style ale, slightly boring without nothing special, otherwise there are nothing to complain.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, BBE AUG13) The beer poured reddish brown and quite clear. Its head was quite large, its colour was white with hints of brown and it was very solid. Aroma contained malts, caramell, fruitiness, banana and citricness. Its palate surprisingly light bodied, warming and bit dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramell, sweetness, malts, mildly roastedness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was somewhat dry, malty and bitter. Aroma promised more than what the taste could deliver. A disappointment.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Oren. Murky brown. Aroma of dark fruits, malt, yeast, candi sugar, caramel, light licorice notes, a bit of alcohol and some spiciness. Sweet malty flavor, a bit alcoholic, with fruits, dark bread and a dry and slightly spicy finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle split at a tasting. Thick, unfiltered brown-tan. Mellow orange peel and brown chocolate aroma. Soft, excellent effervescence. Sort of like a Belgian Dubbel, with the some added orange peel notes. A tad sweet, but true to style I suppose. Soft and mellow fruit tones. Excellent.

Dark ruby color, small steady beige head. Dark fruits, some toffee&caramel in the nose. Medium-bodied, thinnish for this ABV. Caramel, alcohol, raisins in the carbonated mouthfeel. Darker version of Leffe 9°. Simple.

Bottle at Food and Wine Festival in Madison Square Park. Pours a dark amber with thick head. Its fruity and Spicy and there is some honey yeast present as well. Quite a bit going on. Nice of Brooklyn to bring the local’s and sarachi as well as more standard brews.

Brown pour with thick whitish head. Candy brown sugar nose and flavor. Dry finish is a little surprising. Alcohol is a bit too noticeable though. Rated 1/23/10

Deep muddy brown coloured body with a thin tan head. Aroma of nuts, yeast, alcohol and pit fruits. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt and yeastie tastes with some honey and mild coriander seed flavours tucked in with curacao and caramel. Aftertaste shows some nuts, malt and honey with a good and mild finish. Overall, a good beer, perhaps a bit too nutty and malty, but nice to try! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Party Beverage in Newburgh, New York on 02-April-2010, sampled later in the evening in Upstate New York.
