Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Bottle at the Funky 8, Brooklyn, NYC. Very solid offering, defined by its impressive smoothness. Lots of dark fruits in this one - dates, figs - along with a bit of dark bread, toasty sugar and yeast. Very well balanced.

Poured from a 750ml corked bottle into a pint glass (I was on the NYC-Montreal train so this was my only glass option - Mar ’12). The cork flew out with avengeance and hit the carriage roof and was recovered a few seats away (be warned!!!). Pours a ruby red to dirty orange/brown with a frothy off-white/tan head. On the nose, yeast, bread, orange, clove and a little - but not too much spice. On the palate pretty much all the flavours described on the nose and in addition maybe a touch of alcohol, vanilla, sweet molasses and honey. Medium in body moving slightly towards full with just the right level of carbonation ie - not too much! Overall a good Belgian style beer and would definately have it again, although from memory I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Local 1 which I had a few months previously.

750ml bottle. Pours cola colour with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has toffee, raisins and dark chocolate. The taste has tangy raisins and toffee with a persistent ginger note. The palate has a medium to full body, a thick tangy texture and a long zingy finish.Overall, really good version of a Belgian Dark.

75 cl bottle @ home, BBE 07/2013
Loud POP after opening and one second after that I had beer on my table. Luckily 99% went into the glass after all. Sweet aroma with dark fruits, malt, candi sugar and toffee. Flavour is sugary and sweet with malt, burned sugar, some toffee, dark fruits and orange peel. Also some solvent-like savor with alcohol. Foamy palate. Decent, pairs nicely with dark (70%) chocolate.

Really enjoyed the bomber with a meal and afterwards. Picked up a hint of the chocolate in the nose, but none in the taste. I did pick up sweetness from the honey. Had just the right alcohol kick, a nice amount of carbonation, and some complexity without getting too busy.

750 ml "champagne"-corked bottle, shared at local tasting, thanks to Sigrid S. ABV is 9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Sweetish aroma, some stale notes, not impressive. Medium sweet flavour, fruity, some stale notes again, a bit disappointing.
