Bottle from LCBO at Ian's in Toronto. Dark black pour, very little head. Aroma is dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malt. Taste is big but standard imperial stout - mostly roasted malt, some coffee bitterness, some dark fruit. Good coffee flavor. Lasting finish - a bit boozy. Good.

(bottle) (2013) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma starts with smoked prunes, then roast, bitter chocolate, dried longan; mostly dry and mineral flavour; creamy palate

Very dark brown. Thin head, nose is rich, deep dark fruits (plums, raisins), that classic burnt fruitcake, molasses and Okinawan black sugar. The body has a little lightness for the style, but the palate still shows muted fruity dark sugars.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pitch black pour with a huge dark mocha head that leaves nice lace all the way down. Chocolate dominates the nose with some coffee, dark fruits and a hint of pine. Taste is sweet roasted malts leading to a nice bitterness at the end to balance things out. 2013 vintage is 9% but this is well hidden. Medium creamy body with average carbonation and a long finish. The fight with the wax seal was well worth the end result.

Sweet malty nose with dark chocolate, dark fruit notes. But fairly simple, unimpressive mouth. Ok.

Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Bittersweet chocolate, soy and molasses. Oily jet black and a thin beige head. Espresso and bittersweet chocolate and a bitterness that balances sweetness. Very nice.
