We brewed Lost and Found Abbey Ale to pay homage to the great monastic breweries of Belgium. Like us, we hope you’ll take the time to discover a beer that breathes aromas of figs, raisins and candied fruits. Bottle from Salling, Aarhus. Clear brown with a big and lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, nutty, raisins and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with warming alcohol. Smooth and soft. 311212

Bottle thanks to Ibrew2or3: Poured a mahogany to brown color with a thick tan beige head. Aroma was strong dark fruits like figs, raisin and had a nice caramel malt as well. Taste was similar with strong figs, raisin, dates there was also lots of sweet caramel malt and a hint of chocolate.

Bottle shared @ Porvoon kekri 2012. Poured dark brown with a beige head. Caramel, bread, dried fruit and yeasty aroma. Flavor has yeast, drak fruits, figs, brown sugar, finish is very long and fruity. Quite sweet, but I liked it.

Pours a brilliantly clear deep reddish brown with a stingy off white head that subsides quickly. Smells sweet fruity and syrupy. Lots of brown and candy sugar mixed with dark dried fruits, mostly raisins prunes and cherries. The flavor is sweet with sugary malts and dark fruits. The flavor mimics the aroma quite well no surprises here. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Decent dubbel, nothing outstanding but nothing objectionable either. The bubbles seem a bit light for the style.

Poured from a 75 cl bottle into a dogfish head goblet. Quite dark with a thick creamy head. Sweet caramel nose. Somewhat thin flavor with malt and raisins.

Enjoyed on tap at the mega Whole Foods in Chicago, IL after a nice reflective work day. Appearance is a dark muddy brown with no head. Aroma of rich caramel, sweet, with Belgian candi presence, smells good. Taste is pretty good, hint of spice and cinnamon, pretty unique, can’t really put my finger on the taste. Good stuff.

Aroma: The aroma has raisin, plum, and other dark fruit, caramel, nuts, and toast
Appearance: It pours a dark and cloudy amber color with a small beige-brown head
Flavor: It is fairly sweet, the components from the nose come through, and it has a little spice
Palate: The body is fairly full, with a thick, almost heavy feel, a little stickiness, and some mild heat
Overall Impression: This is a very solid Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel. It has a lot going on, but that makes sense in this style, and everything works well together. My only qualm would be that it is just the tiniest hint too sweet, but overall, it is really good stuff. As usual, Lost Abbey nails this Belgian style. Heck, I'm kind of surprised they aren't located in the made-up town of Brussels, CA.

Bottle. (thanks SirLimpsalot) Reddish/brown with a medium head. Aroma and taste of toffee, brown sugar, dried fruit, yeast. Unexpectedly thin mouthfeel. Nothing sensational.

75 cl bottle @ hotel room, Las Vegas
Aroma is sweet with lots of raisins(!) Also some brown sugar, orange peel and a feeling of an aged Belgian ale. Flavour is quite dry with lots of orange peel, some brown sugar and raisins. I expected much more sweetness by the aroma. Palate is quite foamy, creamy and a bit disturbing. Quite typical dubbel.

Sample at the Pints For Pelotonia charity tasting on 07/21/12: This one was a gusher when the cork popped on a bottle a year or two old. The beer is a reddish-brown color with a thick and foamy beige head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast and fruit. Medium body with flavors of ripe fruit, malt, caramel and figs. The finish is malty and fruity with a sweet aftertaste. Above average overall.
