Draught at Port Brewing/Lost Abbey. Deep amber/red/mahogany liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, biscuit, raisins, dark fruit, banana and bubble gum. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of caramel and dark fruit. Medium to full bodied with medium to high carbonation. Another average belgo beer from LA.

75 cl. bottle (I assume that is what it was, I have no idea what those American sizes mean) // split between Michiel & Me @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // quite interesting bright ruby coloured, not much in the way of head, small patchy not that pretty tanned one // aroma is heavy on figs, raisins, touch prunes, quite heavy on dried & canned dark fruits, especially those mentioned before besides the fruits, it is also quite yeast heavy, yeast is quite unique, canned dark fruits & brown sugar like // taste is actually pretty much the same as smell, very heavy on the yeast (dark sugar & canned dark fruits), light glue, sweet, smallest hint of liquorish, candy, lots of figs, raisins, touch prunes, dried & canned fruits plenty, yeast feels quite Belgian styled as is the whole, touch berries plus spice heavy in the finish // body is touch creamy, yeast heavy & with substantial carb. // well-made interesting Belgian style dubbel which has unique elements going, maybe excessive in a certain way, actually brewed with raisins, well-done and interesting // not cheap that is for sure

Bottle. Red brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is Fruit, dried fruits, figs, sugar, raisin, sugar, alcohol. Flavour is figs, dried fruits, alcohol, sugar, raisin, fruit, hop. Nice beer.

Deep ruby tinted light brown coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall tan head - very nice looking and when held up to a light, absolutely beautiful. Aroma of raisins, malt, caramel, sour grapes, yeast, alcohol and a very nice nutty finish. Medium-bodied; Assertive musty flavour with a lot of nuts, earth, caramel and a good toffee flavour that shows well. Aftertaste is quite complex with raisins, pit fruit, sour grapes, oak, vanilla and even a touch of aniseed. Overall, a nice and complex beer that shows some good sour characteristics and most of the typical dubbel tastes that you’d expect. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from BevMo! in San Bruno, California on 05-March-2012 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 11-May-2012.

Big pale brown head. Deep reddish-amber body with visible particles and carbonation. Deep fruity earthy nougat chocolate aroma with vinuous notes. Dry-sweet earthy funky fruit nougat chocolate taste with strawberry notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, rounded mouthfeel with slight fizz. Dryish wooden funky chocolatey aftertaste with dried fruit and herbal earth notes. Nice, drinkable, and slightly harsh on the earth, while at the same time a little understated. (0.75l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

0.75l corked bottle. After a hectic-as-hell day at work, I really think I deserve a little treat. Today my choice landed on this one from the magicians at Lost Abbey. It pours a blurry nutty brown body with a nice reddish hue and a massive and heavy lacing ashy head that's really hanging in there for quite a while. When it comes to the aroma on this one is quite delicious and complex. It has a nice cocoa and chocolate touch, some dark dried fruits, quite a good dash of warming alcohol but also hints of yeast, sweet caramel and licorice. Quite nice! A bit disappointing carbonation level on it, really soft - actually on the border of being flat and that did not really suit this dubbel. Taste however is as delicate as the aroma. It's nutty and chocolaty with tones of cocoa, dark malts, caramel and some dried fruits. Really smooth as always from Lost Abbey before it ends in a nice warming finish with a near spicy aftertaste. Solid, solid and in some strange way, the carbonation level just got higher and higher the closer I got to the bottom of the bottle, and that's a new one! 02.03.2012

Tap @ Falling Rock, Denver, Pours very dark brown with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dark chocolate, dark fruit, plum. Taste is malty, dark chocolate, dark dried fruit, caramel, green apples, raisins. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. 100312

Bottled shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a deep hazy redbrown colour with a thick light beige head. Aromas of rye, sweet malt, leather, dried fruit and hint of alcohol. Nice flavours of chocolate, dried fruit, and leather with a hint of hops and alcohol. Medium bitterness with a slick and smooth mouthfeel, and the beer tickles a bit on the tongue. A really pleasant, round and tasteful abbey dubbel as it should be.
