Celebrating Portland’s reputation as the City of Roses, we present Rose City Sour, a blend of wheat and blond ales aged in oak barrels and foudres for up to 14 months with rose petals, rose hips and hibiscus flowers. Rose City Sour captures the delicate floral aromas of fresh roses matched with notes of dried cranberries, pomegranates and hint of white pepper.

Keg at CP&K, 08/03/18. Golden orange with a reddish glint topped with an off white cap. Nose is sharp stoned fruits, funk, citric pissoi, light rose hip, damp wood. Taste comprises pissy citrics, pink berry pucker, grains, light barnyard, stale bead, acidic bite, red grape must, light herbal rinse. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a good puckering smack. Another bracing number but still fairly well balanced and approachable.

750 c&c from CraftShack. Pours lightly translucent copper with a beige head. Very lightly sour aroma with some hibiscus and I think floral rose. Med body. Flavor is not too sour and very floral. There’s a rose/hibiscus aftertaste. Very pleasing, mild sour. Quite approachable.

Sample at Bob's Bar during the "Cascade Bottle Event" on 01/25/2018. The beer is a clear ruby-amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Short strings of lace. Floral and fruity aroma with some yeast notes. Medium body with flavors of hibiscus, cherry, yeast and floral roses in the background. The finish is fruity with a floral yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bouteille 75cl @ Annual Tilquin Enthusiasts Admin tasting, merci Pierre. anno 2016. Orangée, col fin rosé. Arôme au bouquet de grains, rétro finement poivré avec un ajout modeste d'hibiscus, retrouve un léger côté funk mais pas aussi agressif que les autres Cascade. La touche de pétale de rose est assez minime. Palais est aigrelet, effet fruité fleuri et rouge avec un ajout plaisant de poivre qui reste cependant modéré mais se démontre plus en fin de bouche. Hibiscus revient en retrait le tout sur un effet plus farmhouse style très américain. Pétale de rose en retrait ajoutant un côté plus adouci, mais dur à noter sans avoir lu que cette dernière était présente.

On tap at Racoon Lodge. Pours a amber color with a small white head. A big sour fruity floral nose. Sharp sour fruit, cherry, big floral notes. Very nice. Quite bright and flavorful.

Sampled from the tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a clear red with a pink hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has sour light red fruits and flora supported by light oak and grains. Flavor has sour red fruits with growing flora and notes of oak and light funk backing.

On tap at Cascade, pours a cloudy pink with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of rose petals upfront, with lots of rose hips. Flavour is wonderfully balanced, with lots of rose petals and rosehips, with light acidity and a hint of oak. Nicely balanced and well-barrel-aged. Very good.
