Barrels, barley and beans. Our three favorite elements join forces to help carry the banner for the resurgent barleywine movement. This rich, malt-forward, barrel-aged barleywine-style ale spent part of its life with freshly roasted coffee beans, from our friends at Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, added directly into the bourbon barrels. The final combination, featuring nuances of caramel, vanilla, toasted coconut, mocha notes and oak, is now ready for you and whatever life throws your way.

12.7 oz bottle from Reserve Society. Aroma is licorice, chocolaty, molasses, woody, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, nutty. Pours opaque dark brown with a half finger beige head that falls into a ring quickly. Taste is sweet with flavors like the aroma of. The coffee is there if you search, but it’s subtle. Delicious though.

Bottle (2018 edition) pour courtesy of Adam Chandler via AirForceHops--thanks, guys! It's a clear, dark amber with lazy, light sparkle and ring of off-white head. Aroma is strong caramel, dark fruit and bourbon; milder vanilla and faintest hint of coffee. Taste is strong bourbon, caramel, coconut; later mild vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth texture and soft carbonation (all combined to be a little syrupy), light alcohol warmth, and finish as taste. Second pour stirred up some sediment/floaties, which weren't welcome but also brought more coffee to the aroma and a little to the flavor. Overall, the age of this was not kind to the coffee but perhaps was insufficient to mellow the bourbon as this was booze-forward.

750 ml bottle purchased by Adam from the RS. Thanks man! Aroma is just bourbon. Flavor has coffee but pretty muted. Oak, vanilla from oak, booze. I feel like this should have been opened well over a year ago. Right now it is a bourbon bomb.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a dark amber with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong raisin, toasted malt, caramel, coconut. Slick body, coconut, caramel, fig, boozy, enjoyed this.

750mL bottle pours with a clear copper to mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up booze, oak, boozy prunes and a boozy oak vanilla note. The taste delivers smooth sweet prunes and molasses and booze. It gets boozy and oak and faint coffee toward the finish. Nice sipper.
