Fragrance and taste of the “yeast-cloudy” wheat beer are distinguished by a refined top-fermented flowery-yeast character and an unmistakable, distinct banana aroma. First sensation on the taste buds is full-bodied, very soft and mild with a lively, champagne-like sparkle. A light, typical wheat beer taste is expressed, the bitter tone of which can scarcely be detected. The sparklingly refreshing Ayinger Bräuweisse will impress every wheat beer connoisseur with the first mouthful.

Pours a hazy pale golden color, topped with a hefty white foamy head. Aroma of wheat, lots of fruits and some soury notes. Taste is sweet and wheaty, also a bit fruity. Not bad at all.

On tap at Ayinger braustuberl, Aying. This weizen uses, as most of the bavarian breweries, the famous Weihenstephaner yeast. And it resembles my all-time favourite Weihenstephaner Weizen. Deep dark yellow to light orange color, hazed, big creamy white head looking like snowy mountains that does’t fade quickly and remains til the end. Weizen perfume on the nose. Classic aroma, very malty with what, orange, banana, vanilla and yeast. Taste is well balanced. Body is medium, soft, smooth, texture tends to be creamy and partly dusty. Finish is dry, very clean. This come closer to the HB one, which i like a lot too, would need to be ’darker’ and add in a bit more hops to pair with the weihenstephaner but still a rock solid and extremely pleasurable top-notch weissbier.

* Old rating, 0,5l crown-top-bottle, 2006. Leckeres, mild-weiches Bier. Hefige Banane, Nelken, nicht zu süß. Leckerer, intensiv hefiger mild-weicher Nachgeschmack. Tolle Hefe-note mit mild-weicher Banane bleibt lange auf der Zunge! Toll!

Very cloudy orange appearance with classic Weizen foam. Lots of yeasts, of course with the expected banana/cloves, citrus and vanilla. A bit of citrus freshness as well. Taste is very interesting, fruity, and with a floral/spicy kick in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Great stuff, and something different, it’s a bit tart as well.

Pours a clear blond, and I was expecting cloudy, with a finger of dense white head. Wheat malt, fruits, banana, nice yeasts smells. Wonderful taste wheat, banana, fruits, a little vanilla, yeast. Really good beer. Best enjoyed with your children sleeping over at grandma’s house.

0,5l bottle. Unclear pale yellow, not the biggest head. Yeast, banana and cloves on the nose. Starts with wheat and yeast. Later more fruity, light herb, banana and chewing gum in the background. High carbonated. But still not more than an average bavarian Weißbier.

Draught at Ayingers Speis und Trank, Munich. Golden to orange, hazy body, with a medium, rocky, white head. Aroma of grains, banana, clove, citrus. Taste with the same aromas, really great balanced. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a lively carbonation and it finishes grainy, fruity and spicy. Tasty! Especially the grain notes are really nice and the other, typical Hefeweizen notes are greatly balanced. Refreshing and smooth, great Hefeweizen! 7/4/7/4/15 Rerate 2020-09-13: 500 ml bottle from Biershop Bayernt, bb 02.21. Very smooth and balanced, with lots of banana cake and creamy vanilla. 8/4/8/4/16

500 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a large, long-lasting, white head. Aroma is lemon, banana, wheat, yeast and a hint of vanilla. Flavour is sweet wheat, banana, yeast and a little citrus. Medium body, lively carbonation and a sticky, oily texture. Very refreshing. One of the best hefs in the world.
