Cask handpull at Westgate JDW, Canterbury. Thanks to maeib for identifying this one. Cloudy russet colour with lasting thick beige head. Sweet raspberry aroma, like kids sweets, bit of sourness in mouth, bit medicinal. Served very cold. Really overly sweet. Like raspberry ripple ice cream on end. Not awful, but it is ovely sweet in mouth even though the aftertaste is pretty good.

Cask at JDW, Penny Black, Bicester 22-10-06. I read from the Thomas Hardy thread on the Forum that this is sold as Ecaussinnes Fruit Beer. Red slightly hazy beer, taste not too disimilar to vimto though only sweeter and far worse, It would be hard to say anything positive about this beer as it really wasn’t my thing it tasted far too artificial and sweet for me.

Bottled at Delirium, Gothenburg. Reddish brown, hazy beer with a large, diminishing beige head leaving nice lacings. Sweet and acidic raspberry-candy aroma. The flavor is mostly raspberry too, starting quite like natural raspberries, but soon getting quite artificial and candy-sweet. Sweet and sticky, medium body. Too sweet, but with some spicy notes in the finish. A good frambozen is nice, but I can’t understand why everyone has to put raspberries in all other sorts of beers, even if it can be successful in a imperial stout or similar. (060823)

Bottle Clear, amber body with a reddish shine. Off-white, rocky head with a small pinkish shine. Nasty aroma of sweet yoghurt (the one for little kids). Heavily sweet, lightly sour initial flavour. Moderately sweet, lightly sour finish. Soft carbonation. Very nasty flavour. Artificial fruity, juicy.

Bottled. Rusty red, a bit hazy colour, nice big head. Faked cherry/raspberry whatever flavour. I actually think it’s closer to cherry than raspberry. Flavour is sour with raspberry/cherryish notes. Ends like running into a wall. Watery mouthfeel with carbonation tickling too much. Quite boring and I had actually waited to get something pleasant and drinkable...

Deep cherry red, a good cloudy tan head, lace. Artificial rasberry aroma, more like strawberry icecream. Dry rasberry flavor with some sourness. Flavor ends quickly to watery mouthfeel. Dry aftertaste. Flavor is not totally hopeless but after medicore aroma and palate this is not very enjoyable.
