A love of American microbrews is the inspiration behind this IPA, brewed with generous amounts of aromatic, American hops, which provide the significant freshness and bitterness with lots of citrus notes. The taste sensations are nicely balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malt.

Purchased at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on good Friday just hanging out at home. If the intent was to brew an \"American IPA\" then these guys failed terribly! But it’s still pretty good stuff. Appearance a very dark amber with a rich, prominent white head that sticks around for a while. Aroma of caramel malt, citrusy hops, and grapefruit, but really there’s more of an emphasis on the caramel than anything else, so mixed with grapefruit it’s rather interesting. Taste is very bitter with huge grapefruit notes, there’s a sweetness to it which may come from the caramel malts, but the grapefruit really is powerful, but not to the point of overpowering. All in all it’s pretty good, nowhere near what I expected though.

Cloudy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel and very hoppy - grapefruit, pine and flowers. Flavor is quite sweet and very bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. An excellent and very balanced IPA. 120110

Pours a deep golden amber with a fluffy white head that sticks to things. Smells of pine and grapefruit with a bit of caramel in there as well. Taste hits you with heavy grapefruit some pine some really sweet caramel maltiness. Hops up front malt in the middle, smooth mix for the finish. Really nice presentation. Body is medium to thick. mouthfeel is sweet and creamy. Carbonation is ample. Pleasantly surprised, I was expecting a hop bomb, but got a greatly balance ipa.

Hazy dark amber beer. Soft tangy hops with a vague metallic note. Grapefruit and orange bitterness in the soft semi dry finish.

A beautiful, reddish brown beer with a big and blond head. Aroma is fruitfull with flowers, grapefruits, fructose sweetness, some pine needles and soap, pleasant. Taste is strongly bitter, pine needles, some fruityness, nice sweetness and even resin. Overally, full bodied and enough sweetness balanced strong bitterness. Nicely slippery and pleasant to drink. Strongly bitter, still easy enjoyable and glass is empty too quickly, that is the sign of great beer.

Re-rate 8/13/11: Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Dror. BBD 6/3/11. Clear amber. Aroma has some floral and citric hops but feels old. Flavor has light sweetness and nice bitter grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied. A bit old but still not bad. 6/3/7/3/13=3.2

[9/21/10] Bottle at De Wildeman in Amsterdam. Clear amber with a medium, stable, off-white head. Pleasant citric hops aroma. Flavor has a bit of biscuity sweetness at first with a bit fruitiness and subdued grainy hints, but very quickly gets dominated by sharp bitter, grapefruity, slightly piney hops. Medium-bodied. A nice IPA. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5

Bottle. Sweet orange/lemon hops and light toffee malt aroma. Hazy amber color with minimal head. Light toffee malt initially but quickly overwhelmed by strong bitter quinine and pine/orange peel hops flavor. Nice body. Good but hops a bit rough to me.

330ml bottle from Utobeer. Pours amber, off-white head with soft carbonation. Nose; citrus, pine, floral. Taste; intense bitterness, lemon, waxy, slight dark chocolate, liquorice, refreshing, well-hidden alcohol with long hoppy finish. Very drinkable IPA.
