Festive, refreshing, and fun. One time per year we brew our classic Dorothy's lager with cranberry, apples, and cinnamon for a delicious holiday treat. Cheers!

Canned 9/20/22, drunk 1/16/23. Clear cranberry-amber. Very large, pinkish, off-white head showing strong retention. Light cinnamon and moderate cranberry. Bit of fruity sugar and, of course, no lager left in the nose. Smells like all the million other holiday spiced beers. Spicy fruity sweet, no real personality otherwise. Strong cranberry fruit character is authentic and I appreciate the tartness and fleshy, bright character, but there's a massively sugary element here. I guess the acidity and cinnamon spice more or less balance, and you obviously can't view this as an adjunct lager, just a holiday fruit beer, and the tartness is compelling...buuuuuut, I just can't get behind it fully. That sugar seems very added here. Certainly that's not the malt at only 4.7% abv. Maybe they added apple puree in secondary? Whatever the case, a few sips is fun and then it's just the complete lack of any beer character causes me to dump most of it.

Sampled from the tap at First Draft MN. Pours a clear reddish amber with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has lots of nutmeg and holiday spice with light bread and a bit of tart cranberry coming through. Flavor is more cranberry forward with growing holiday spice and a bread backbone.

Pint can from Wagner Market, 11/29/22. Deep red, hazy, medium tan head, average retention. Aroma of cranberry, nutmeg, cinnamon, apple skins, lemon. Taste is cinnamon, apple, lemon, tart cranberry, vanilla, toast. Lingering tartness (unexpected). Well balanced. Nice.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clearish pinkish red color with a finger rose pink foam that lingers. Apple, cranberry and cinnamon all present on the nose. More of the same on the palate with a light tartness. Cinnamon really works well with the apple and cranberry. Refreshing fall fruited lager.

16 oz. can. Pours a clear, purplish, orange color, with a foamy, light pink head. The aroma is bright cranberry, cardamom, maple, pecans, and orange. Sweet and a bit acidic, with a light bitterness. Medium body, crisp, and a little sticky. Fun and well made.

Can/Fest. A- Cranberry, mild spice. A- Pink color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Cranberry, apple. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Tasted more cider like to me but the cranberry is the star backed up with some mild spice. Way better than the base beer.
