【名前の由来】
アメリカンホップが席巻するこのクラフトビール界において忘れてはならないのは、ホップが実る地は世界各地にあり、その数だけ個性がある、ということ。六遊記はホップとビール文化の見聞を広めるべく、6つの国を旅するようにそれぞれの国の特色に焦点を当て、６つのIPAを作るシリーズです。
【醸造家の声】
今回の六遊記では、IPAを生んだビール大国、イギリスに焦点を当てました。ここで言うIPAは今日のクラフトビールの台風の目のようなとびきりホッピーなものとは趣が異なり、麦芽と酵母の個性を活かしたものが主流です。英国麦芽とイングリッシュエール酵母のふくよかな風味や味わい深さはアメリカンスタイルを凌駕するほど魅力的で、英国産ホップも花や大地を感じさせるニュアンスのものを使い、大国らしい悠々とした印象をビールに残しました。決して煌びやかではないけども、気の利いた飲みやすさとシーンを選ばない程よい個性においては、これの右に出るビールはないかもしれません。

[Naming]
The world of craft beer is dominated by American hops, especially in the modern IPA. Hops are produced all over the world, however, and vary hugely in character. This series is a celebration of characteristics of 6 countries, and a reimagining of the IPA through the lens of their respective beer cultures.
[Brewer's Voice]
This installment of Six Journeys goes back to the roots of the IPA style--England. While it is hops that defines the style that has now taken over the craft beer world, what sets the English type apart is the malt and yeast. Both give much fuller and richer flavors than their American counterparts while the hops have a much more floral and earthy tone. While they may not be as flashy, English IPAs can't be beat for the comfort beers that they are and seem to fit any scene in which they are drunk.
