Cask at White Horse, Hedgerley, Bucks. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium bubbly beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate taste and aroma. It's alright but very thin.

150ml, draught, sample tray at Skaal. Low, off-white head, clingy lacing, and a coal black body. Rounded roasted malty nose, promising. Soft chocolate malts to the taste buds, a short, little backdrop of coffee towards a roasted ending. Easy to drink. Pretty good. (Copenhagen, 03.05.2023).

Draft. A black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and hints of nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, and chocolate, leading to a bitter finish.

Black beer, thick off white head. Smells of toasty malt and a little coffee. Flavour has sweet, roasted malt, a bit of coffee again, bitter chocolate. Bittersweet with a dry finish and a decent body. Very drinkable.

(Cask at Earl of Essex, Islington, London, 28 May 2022) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate and black bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, black bread and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, dry. Fairly straightforward, but really tasty and well made. Very nice.

440ml can. Gluten Free. Black-brown colour, biege foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of roasty malt, smokey, meaty, coffee & chocolate. Taste is dark malty, ashy, roasted, with coffee, chocolate and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry earthy roast bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
