Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. The lambic for this brew comes from the Boon (Lembeek) brewery, according to the original recipe of Henri Vandervelden, the founder of Oud Beersel.

Bottle @ Fermentoren. Pours hazy orange with a medium white head. Aromas of citrus, tart fruits, some yeast, funk and lots of horseblanket and leather. Taste is pretty mellow ripe green apples, funk, some vinegar, leather and barnyard.

pre 2000 bottle, tasted in jan 2003. Orange color, with chunks of yeast floating. Aroma has honey, cherry and pineapple. Even my geuze-hating wife liked the nose. Sour, acidic flavor with apple, oak, citrus and pepper. Delicious and complex, with everything that makes a geuze worthwile. The closure of this brewery is a tragedy! 9 3 9 4 18 = 4.3 bottled in 2007. Orange blonde, hazy. Oak, pineapple honey and lemon in the aroma. Almost totally dry lemon flavor with leather, hints of oak and lemon. Enjoyable top class geuze. 9 4 9 4 18 = 4.4

375 ml bottle, bb 17.11.20137, so vintage 2017 I guess. Golden-amber, slightly hazy body, with a big, frothy, white head. Aroma of smooth cheesy funk, citrus, apple, wood, some minerals, some hay, slight apricot. Tastes similar, a bit more musty. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes perfect, smooth, medium dry, medium wooden, citric, musty, a bit funky, with long-lasting green apple skin. Beautiful! Maybe not the most complex Geuze, but so smooth and balanced, with just enough funkiness, fruits, wood and a slight acidity. Drinks extremely crisp and elegant. Classic style example how I love it!
