Draft. Ye gods, sickly sweet and boozy. Malty with toffee, caramel and a little coffee abd dark chocolate...and loads of boozy. I like it, but i wish i had 2a friends here with me to split my 12oz pour

Single from the LCBO. Pours a dark brown colour with a little ruby highlights. Nice light brown coloured head, foamy, decent retention, but low lacing. Loads of dark fruits (raisins, plums, prunes) with notes of chocolate, nuts and light alcohol. This last one is well-hidden though in the mouthfeel. Again, lots of dark fruits in the taste with some molasses and hints of burnt malt, caramel and licorice. Lots going here, so if you like dark fruits, you will really like this one.

22 oz. bottle, pours a near-black with a medium tan / light brown head. Aroma brings out loads of treacle toffee, molasses, caramel and a little booze. Flavour brings out loads of molasses, a little treacle toffee, roasted malt, and some burnt notes. This is rather decadent and amazingly well-rounded, surprisingly -- since the last few Jewbelations have been cloyingly sweet messes. This one, however, is not sweet at all, with a highly roasted, dry and somewhat treacly finish. Really good stuff.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of deep caramelized sugar notes with light dried fruit and alcohol ester. Taste is also dominated by caramelized sugar with overly sweet notes and some alcohol warming notes. Body is quite full with motor oil consistency and alcohol is indeed a bit too straightforward. Too sweet with too much alcohol being perceptible. Bottle: Re-rate 2021 : More balanced this time around but still a sipper. Good drink for price point.

ZEBF 13 pours black, brown ring of foam. smells sweet, cleaning products ( ??? ) thick, sweet, in a weird way, roasted malts..

Bottle with label marked as "CA Edition". Pours with a black hued pour and a large and lasting deep brown head. Aromas are malty, biscuity, licorice, vanilla, iodine, chocolate, cotton candy, grainy, rye, dark fruits, plums, deep caramel, treacle. Lightly herbal, low ester, boozy. Summed up: Busy. Flavors are pretty sweet and pretty muddled with big chocolate, roast, coffee, tobacco, dark fruit, kiln coffee, boozy, medium ester, lightly fruity, lightly herbal. Busy and convoluted. A bit silly (especially when you look at the hop schedule on their brew sheet online). While they are at it, why don’t they try to ferment it with 16 different yeast strains? Silly. Huge body, viscous, warming. Medium carbonation with big alcohol. Honestly it is a lot better than I expected (from a beer who’s recipe seems based more around a marketing goal than a taste goal).

Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: Brownish-black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, pine and citrus. Full-bodied with a boozy character and flavors of burnt malt and resiny hops. The finish is sticky with a boozy and piney aftertaste. Above average overall.

Had heard this was a bit of a mess but I actually enjoyed it. Pours syrupy black with good mocha head in the beginning. Very thick consistency. Aroma has roast malt, hops, black licorice and caramel. Booze aroma surprisingly light for style. Taste is bitter and a little sweet. Nice.

Total Wine, Fairfax 650ml ($7ish): Pours a dark brown with a brownish head. Aroma is a good bit of chocolate, dark fruits like figs and stuff, liqueur (although not quite booze), fruitcake, and malts. Taste sweet, with a bit of pretzel. Hoppage is pretty minimal, but there is definitely a minor bitterness, but I feel as though the hops are adding something substantial to the taste as well. Mouth feel is sticky. Beer is gloopity gloop. Alcohol is miraculously covered in all this malt. However, it does have a warming burn towards the finish. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this is not a bad surprise. That being said, gloop isn’t really my thing when it comes to beer.
