Bottled at Bearbeer tasting. Black, small head. Aroma of chocolate cake and coffee. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Sticky chocolate cake, coffee and licorice, some dates. Low bitterness. Too pastryish.

Best before 05/2024, Batch: TMPLH1.19, brewed at Brouwerij Hof Ten Dormaal; Ingredients: water, barley malt, oats, sugar, yeast (no hops?)
AROMA: toasted sugars in the foreground, brown sugar, dark caramel, toasted bread & bread crust, sweetened oatmeal, dried fruits like prunes, figs & hints of cheery, dried raspberries, milk chocolate but also mild high cocoa one on the edges, soft plum brandy (not hot or boozy), hints of coffee, subtle umami presence, subtle oxidation note (dry cardboard), hints of toasted onions, very faint perfume, cinnamon & grounded ginger
TASTE: smooth carbonation, tiny & creamy bubbles, nice oily, silky & velvety mouthfeel, also a bit syrupy on the edges, thins out in the second half of the bottle, medium full body; moderate sweet onset of toasted sugars, caramel, faint molasses, impressions of caramel chocolate, butterscotch mixed with red/dark dried fruits, red candy esters, smooth oatmeal, medium strength bitterness from roasted malts, well roasted barley coffee, hints of ash, grassy notes, gentle spicy alcohol adds extra touch, mild savory & mineral presence, smooth dry finish with lingering esters & soft roast
OVERALL: very well crafted, smooth and dangerously drinkable with nice amount of sweetness, fruit esters and solid bitterness; alcohol is remarkably hidden; highly enjoyable with that typical Skåne sweet touch;

Smell- medium strong, malt, roast, cofee Foam- medium-thick, malty, roasty, some alcohol tones. The Head is small, quite dark brown in color. Appearance- brewer bottle cap, dark, evil, atmospheric looking label, I like it. Black color, no carbonation, some sediment at the bottom. From- snifter Taste - malty, coffee, alcohol, roast, some sweetness, and more coffee. Very cofee-ish and malty, some sweetness in the mix. Not bad actually, alcohol is not well hidden, but it is quite high anyway. Not bad.

22 August 2020. At Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Cheers to Anke, mom & dad's belated Father's Day! Cloudy black with a stable, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of candied fig, prune, bourbon, vanilla, brownie dough, chocolate chips, custard, dark fudge, creamy coffee. Taste has sweet fig, chocolate & fudge with a sourish edge of brambleberry, powdery effect on a toasty bitter body with a touch of vanilla. Herbal hoppy finish, even more toasty yet dark chocolate & brownie linger. Some warming whisky alcohol in the throat. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very nice, didn't really expect it from Hof ten Dormaal to be honest...

Collaboration between Tempel in Sweden and Hof ten Dormaal in Belgium, a hefty imperial stout, tasted nitro-tapped at Dok in Ghent. Very creamy (nitro) head, yellowish beige, regularly shaped and sitting stable on a black beer with very thin mahogany edging. Aroma of coffee cream, cappuccino, actual black coffee, caramel, freshly whipped cream (largely the nitro effect again), bitter chocolate, praliné, roasted chicory, dry clay, bayleaf, rainwater falling on hot rocks, thyme, liquorice. Sweetish with light sourish edge as well as some restrained background umami, medium carbonated, with a thick, syrupy and evidently very creamy mouthfeel (again strongly enhanced by the nitro tap effect); smooth praliné- en toffee-like core with some minerally accents at the sides, bitter chocolate sauce-like with a full roasty coffee character towards the end - so that the initial desserty sweetness effectively makes a turn of 180° and switches to dark roasty bitterness in an instant, fascinatingly. Long, mouth-filling finish with some clove- and bayleaf-like touches, as well as rum-like, warming alcohol. Lacks a bit in complexity for me but I suspect the nitro tap treatment has polished away some of the beer's edginess; I do appreciate the outspoken roasted bitterness in the second half of the flavour 'parcours', though, especially in a time when imperial stouts have often become way too sweet (even with pastry stouts aside).

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Soft roast, licorice and caramel in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweet, droppoeder. Lots of licorice in the beer, not my favorite.

This is an amazing beer in it’s style, especially for a non-ba RIS, licorice, roasted, some anice, chocolate, creamy, malty, average body 👍
