Wie der Bernstein am Ostseestrand glänzt das Ankertau Dunkel kupferfarben im Glas. Der malzige Körper wird aber nicht nur in der trüben Färbung deutlich, sondern auch im vollmundigen Geschmackserlebnis. Mild prickelnd und mit einer leichten Süße verströmt das Bier das typische Aroma eines „Dunklen“. Aus Mecklenburger Quellwasser, hellem und Karamell-Gerstenmalz sowie deutschem Hopfen entsteht ein mildes Bier, das zu allen Gelegenheiten passt.

Bottle. Pours nearly clear lightish copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast, with notes of paper and malt and hints of caramel. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and yeast, with bitter notes of hops and mild citric hints. Estery afteraste with mild malty notes. Not bad but a little thin.

Bottle, 5.0%. Faintly papery aroma. Clear light brown colour. OK stable off-white head. The flavour is papery and slightly bready. Perhaps there is a faint liquorice note, but mostly bread.

Swing-top bottle: Amber coloured with a reddish sheen, hazy, small off-white foamy layer, mild to moderate sweet-bitter aroma of toasted malt with traces of dried fruits, some caramel as well, delicate herbal-hoppy background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, nearly medium-bodied, almost a bit fizzy; lingering and a bit drier malty and herbal finish. 500ml bottle. Clear , minimally reddish, chestnut colour with average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy, strawy aroma, a cautious touch of malt lozenge. Taste is minimally dry, dark malty, slightly grainy and strawy, subtle sweetness, a touch of malt lozenge. Creamy texture, smooth and soft palate. Well crafted, but overall rather dark coloured than really Dunkel. Quite nice overall.

Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy very caramellic aroma. Light bitter caramellic flavor. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate.

0.5 l bottle from local 'Getränke Hoffmann', best before January 2020. Clear, dark amber with a thin, frothy, stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, toasted nuts and hints of honey. Moderately sweet, malty, slightly bitter taste of caramel, toasted nuts and a touch of honey, followed by a short, moderately bitter, minimally grassy-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid Dunkel, quaffable and inoffensive.
