33cl bottle from my Secret Santa VDuquerroux, many thanks! A black beer with a mid-sized good lasting tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt, chocolate, ash, toffee, hints of vegetables. Taste of intense roasty dark malt, chocolate, coffee, earth, sticky, oily mouthfeel, quite nice!

From bottle at Brussels Beer Project. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, coffee, spicy, licorice, dark fruits, some wood, bread. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma with spicy notes again. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Black beer dark brown colour lasting tan head. Chocolate ice cream flavour liquorice. Spicy finish. Odd impy stout. As I say a hot spicy stout with both milk chocolate and liquorice.

On tap at the Gryphon, Bristol May 2017. Near black in colour, with a thin, beige, head. Plain chocolate, some liquorice, leafy hops and toasty malts, before some warming alcohol kicked in, followed by chilli heat that lingered on in the finish. A nicely balanced imperial stout.

Ce Big Boy a du tempérament. C’est du lourd! L’intensité aromatique y est impressionnante avec des arômes de café et de chocolat bien présents en bouche et avec une corpulence hors norme. La contrepartie : des arômes qui manquent quelque peu de variations, légèrement bruts de fonderie et pour ma part, une amertume que j’aurais bien vu plus développée. Et le piment me direz-vous?!! Il est certain que si vous ne l’aimez pas en règle général, vous ne l’aimerez pas davantage dans une bière. Mais je l’ai trouvé bien intégré et dosé. Se ressentant sur l’ensemble de la dégustation mais s’exprimant entièrement sur le final. En verre, nous sommes sur un noir total et opaque : du véritable charbon. La faible effervescence (mais suffisante) ne permet pas à la mousse beige de tenir. Le nez est de suite sur le malt avec le café et le chocolat qui arrivent franchement. Le piment ne se fait que très peu ressentir à ce stade. L’attaque est souple avec une expression sur le malt magistrale : chocolat, café, fruits rouges s’assemblent de très belle façon. Le piment pointe le bout de son nez, pas encore d’une intensité exceptionnelle mais assez présent pour laisser une sensation troublante mais pas désagréable. La deuxième bouche est sur une très belle structure suave, sur le chocolat, les fruits rouges et toujours cet arrière goût pimenté. L’arrière bouche quant à elle est davantage sur l’amertume avec des notes de café bien présente. La troisième bouche se recentre alors sur le café avec une amertume modérée avant un final long où le piment prend les devants sans dépasser le seuil d’alerte. Dosage très intelligent. Coup de chapeau sur la corpulence, avec des arômes qui restent longtemps en bouche. Cet Imperial Stout se laisse déguster lentement. Les 12 % Abv ne sentent absolument pas mais soutiennent les arômes de façon remarquable sans pour autant que le sucre en soit écœurant. Ce Big Boy en impose et en envoie, pas de fioriture, accrochez vous!

2015 Bottle at home, 16th June 17. Pours black with a slight lace head. Aroma is liquorice, leather, pepper, dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, dry, good hit of chilli takes away any sweetness, great balance, sweet, hit finish. Excellent chilli impy.

F: dark brown, thin, quick gone. C: absolutely dark, opaque. A: dark malt, chocolate, mocha, cocoa, molasses, dark fruits, ash. T: dark malt, chilly on the palate, cocoa, mocha, dark chocolate, hint of vanilla, ash, molasses, chilli is long lasting and burning together with warming alcohol but I like it, full body, soft carbonation, oily mouthfeel, 33cl bottle from Malting pot in Brussels.

Draught @ [ 888 Winter Camp French Craft Beer Festival ] - Malmö Brewing Co, Bergsgatan 33, Malmö, Sweden 214 22. [ As La Débauche Big Boy ].Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, sweet malt, molasses, alcohol, light chocolate and roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, molasses, dark roasted - burnt, light chili spiced warm. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20160123]

Drucken på fat på Malmö Brewings franska ölfestival. Smak och doft av kaffe, choklad, chili, lakrits med toner av torkad mörk frukt. Fruktig, fin chili hetta som sakta växer fram, bra sting. Fint!
