After a long cool fermentation and almost 4 months of lagering, the end result is a beautiful smooth, dark brown, rich lager with gentle notes of caramel and dark chocolate.
The style is a bigger and stronger version of the german style Bock beers and the name 'Doppel' literally means 'double'.
A winter warmer, it is a very food friendly style with flavours of toasted bread and dark fruit, perfect to pair with a comforting sticky toffee pudding.

Mørk brun med beige skum. Lukter mørk sirup, svisker og nøtter. Middels fylde. Lett bitter. Smaker noe salt lakris, kakao og mørk sirup. Middels lang.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 23. Pours a deep dark brown, beige head. Inviting sticky sweet moist fruitcake aroma. Sweet rich character with dark caramel flavours.. very accomplished doppelbock with an excellent, developed depth of flavour.

Keg draught at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Very dark mahogany, translucent, with a small beige/khaki head. Aroma of glacé cherries, brandy, treacle. It's muted but gorgeous. Tastes extremely sweet with lots of muscovado sugar, more cherry, some herbal notes. Slight hop bitterness closer to the finish but its generally a very sweet beer. Big syrupy body with carbonation on the low side. Wonderful.

Spandert av Rune. Delt med ham i WCveien. Ultramørk amber. Middels høyt tett skum med litt farge. Litt lacing. Karamellaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken som aromaen. Søt, tørr bitter avslutning.

330ml bottle, batch 591, bought at Offie in Leicester and carried back home. Shared with Finn. Firm fawn-coloured head, next-to-clear dark brownish body. Spotty lacing. Promising aromas of caramel malts, smoothly roasted. Well balanced taste of dark fruits, toffee, and caramel malts. Lingering, slightly roasted bitterness on the finish. fine depth. Pleasant.
