Captivating dark malts, Naga chilies, cacao and coffee. And then cognac. Dog H keys into the Auld Alliance thanks to the influential embrace of French brandy. This is barrel-ageing done right.
The result is a compelling beer with flavour peaks as high as the Alps. Enjoy it now or keep it for a decade. Dog H will reward you at the end, either way. Bon Anniversaire indeed.

Bottle. Black body with a thin beige head that slowly fades. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of nutty malt and milk chocolate. Flavour of rocky road and liquorice. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Overall, it’s quite sweet and easy to drink for the ABV.

Dark brown, not much head. The cognac aroma is prominent, with a bit of vanilla, light chocolate accents, and a hint of chile. On the palate, its soft and oily, light chile, a bit of cacao, a touch of coffee. The naga leaves a bit of heat on the lips, subtle though. The cognac rounds everything out in the finish, but with a splash of alcoholic warmth. Extra strong, with that little bit of intensity above and beyond your average flavoured impy.

Poured from 330mL bottle (bb 24/03/2029). Dark brown with minimal beige head. Feint chillies in the background, but shows up nicely on the nose, brandy underlay throughout, boozy, but enjoyable.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of dark sugars, a touch of cognac, a touch of cocoa and coffee. Flavour is very rich, with the alcohol well-hidden, with notes of cognac, plenty of dark sugars, cocoa, a tiny hint of chilis, and maybe very faint coffee. Again, the booze is well-hidden, and there's a nice cohesion and complexity to this. Good.

A small taste @ Remedy, cellar's treasures tasting. Pours very dark brown with a low head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, alcohol, soy sauce. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, soy sauce, alcohol, hops. Hint of coconut. Waaay past it's prime, but decent.

19th January 2022 Opaque dark brown beer, a few tan bubbles don't come close to forming a head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. The dark malts feel thin but bring a decent dark chocolate. The mid is spicy which is both alcohol and adjunct borne. Trace of vanilla barrel into a boozy finish. It's a fruity boozy finish but only mildly Cognac in character. Some barrely bitterness on the very last. Gum numbing linger and a warming afterglow. Actually gets a lot better as it warms up, the Cognac sings a bit louder.
