GBBF Day 1. Cask. Almost clear brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest carbonation. Smooth dark malts, tangy chocolate, tangy dark fruits - some raisin. Dry finish. Okay, bordering on bland, but then it is a mild!

Cask at GBBF. It pours hazy deep red - brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, umami, liquorice and a bit of fruit cake. The taste is smooth, toasty, earthy, bit of ash, damp leaves, wood, leather and caramel with a dry finish. Light body and soft carbonation. Not a huge amount to it. Drinkable, but a bit boring.

Cask (gas dispense) at Duke of Connaught, Norwich. It’s a dark mild. Nice malt finish. Very dark brown with lasting beige head. Decent dark roasted aroma, oddly perfumed for a mild (parfait amour). Good tingle on end. A mild to keep you interested.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF, 2004] A dark amber beer with a beutiful off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted bread. The flavor is sour because of the low alcohol content - with a weird roasted note - is it a hop sort I can’t sort out? The end is dry end the body is thin.
