2004 primeur. Dusty cherry aroma and falvor. Earthy, bitter almonds. Not too sweet, especially compared to the normal kriek Belle Vue. Maybe a bit watery, but surprisingly good.

‘95 Bottle shared at Kulminator. Hazy purple with a pink head. Aroma of mellow sweet cherries, holding up well for the age. Sweetness is present but toned down with a light sourness behind. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle at the Kulminator, 07/12/18. 1995 bottle. Dark cherry red with a well presented crimson cap. Nose is musty cherries, damp wood, cherry skins, straw. Taste comprises mellow cherries, underlying sugars but not super sweet, musty, light cherry yoghurt, berry compote. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light tarte cherry edge. A nice surprise ... this has aged very well ... no oxidisation and not overly sweet.

*Old rating, best before 08/02/05. Primeur 2004. Aromatisiert mit 10% konzentriertem Fruchtsaft... Sehr süße Angelegenheit, viel Kirsche, vielleicht auch Kirschlolli, kaum Bier. Sehr süffig, ein Hauch von Säure, aber viel zu süß.

Spring version of the regular Belle-Vue Kriek, presented as being made with fresh fruit, but it’s just the same industrial, sugary ’fake lambic’ as the original. I never did a side by side tasting of this with that original, but I remember it as being fruitier, rounder and sweeter, with less acidity. I’m note sure if this is still made, but I for one will not miss it.

When fresh even sweeter than the normal Belle-Vue kriek. Clear cherry red colour, pinkish white head. Loads of cherry juice, not much lambic character. Very sweet finish. Haven’t seen it around anymore lately, has it been retired? (from 25cL bottle)
