Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Rich caramel malt aroma with soft oak, dried fruits, berries, and a mild pleasant hoppy touch. Flavour is medium sweet and bitter. Body is above medium. Lacks Quad complexity, but it's not that sweet and I dig the fruity hoppy aspect.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Malt and toffee in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with oak, caramel, earthy hops and hints of oak and licorice. Dried fruit. Fairly low on carbon. Alcoholic, floral finish.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Aug 2018) Dark reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark rye bread, caramel and roasted grain. Malty, roasted taste with caramel, dark bread, mild oak flavours, dried fruit and a mild bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and warming. Nice one.

One of a whole string of numbered Berging beers, an oak aged variant on a quadrupel with American hop varieties, interesting concept; thanks Craftmember for sharing. Medium thick, mousy to creamy, off-white head lacing in shreds over a misty, deep brownish-bronze beer with ruddy hue, showing small flakes of protein here and there. Aroma of toffee, candied orange peel, sugared cheese spread (Paschka), pineapple candy even, cashew nuts, cookie dough, beef stock, dates, hint of wet wood but very subtle. Sweet flavour, lots of fig jam, blue grapes and ripe plum, candi sugariness, medium carbonation, full and long developing caramelly malt sweet body, toffeeish with a light, subtly bitterish toasty edge even turning very vaguely coffeeish in the end; warming finish with only a limited amount of tannic oakiness, more calvados-like alcohol and faint traces of citrusy hoppiness. Ends bready, sweet and cookie-like. Both the wood treatment and the American hopping remain somewhat too limited to give this beer a lasting impression, I'm afraid, though admittedly it is a well-brewed and well-balanced quad I could enjoy any day.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Dark brown with an off-white head. Dark caramel aroma with some roasted notes and lots of oak. Sweet taste and a lot of 'woodiness'. Rich silky mouthfeel. Great beer.

Dark brown colour, brown foam. Sweet nose of vanilla, sweet malts, some dried stone fruit. Taste is sweet, annoying vanille like taste, something artificial. Not very oaky. Not the best balanced oak aged quad.
