12/8/2023. Bottle shared at RigaGP bottle share. From Hopsters, Ipswich. Bottle 29/520. Pours close to black with a small frothy tan coloured head. Aroma is dark malts, smoky, wood, chocolate, dark fruits, berries, liquorice, molasses. Medium sweetness with developing bitterness. Medium to full body, very smooth, soft to flat carbonation. Enjoyable.

Sample thanks to Danlo: Poured a black with a bubble head. Aroma is smokey, roasted malts, chocolate, oaky, woods. Taste is licorice, dark fruits, roasted malts, alcohol boosty, chocolate, woodsy.

Panda at home, thanks to Edward Danlo, 11/06/22. Black with a good sized khaki head. Nose is dark malts, spice, bourbon notes, oak, chocolate, roasted tones, light smoke. Taste comprises roast malts, chocolate, light smoke, bourbonics, charr, light ashen nip, toffee fudge, dates, booze tunes, molasses, brown sugar melt Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid BA impy with an old skool lean ... masks the 12% rather well.

330ml bottle from S43. Black colour, beige foam head and aroma of smoked malt, wood barrel, bourbon. Taste is dark malt, roasty, meaty, smokey, with coffee, chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon and earthy boozy bitterness. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, woody roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Petit clin d'oeil à la finale de coupe d'Europe ce soir avec cette S43 et à nos amis anglais qui attendent un nouveau sacre depuis 55. L'Angleterre va-t-elle fumer les italiens ? Un grand merci à Grumbo pour cet Impie fumé et vieilli 4 mois en fût de Bourbon. Go England ! Ma grosse crainte avec les bières fumées et leur capacité à me faire remémorer ma jeunesse scoute et à boire de la saucisse fumée. Ici, ce n'est pas totalement le cas, avec un fumé qui reste bien proportionné jusqu'au final. Le Bourbon aide en cela car permettant de le contrebalancer. Malheureusement sur le final, celui-ci prend un peu trop l'ascendant à mon goût. Côté structure, le sucre aurait pu être moins dosé mais l'alcool, à 12%, bien intégré et chaleureux permet toutefois de le faire passer. Et si l'intensité n'est pas extraordinaire, l'ensemble est fin et distingué. Le visuel est sur une robe noire sans mousse. L'effervescence est ténue. Le nez est sur le café, le bourbon, un fumé plutôt bien dosé et dans une moindre mesure le chocolat. L'ensemble est élégant. L'attaque commence sur la même ligne avec en complément aux arômes, de légères épices qui relèvent le tout de bonne façon. Le Bourbon prend bien l'ascendant sur le fumé. Le fumé commence légèrement à se renforcer en seconde bouche. L'intensité est moyenne tout comme la complexité. On aurait apprécié un peu plus de variations. L'arrière bouche est sur un alcool qui se fait plus ressentir, donnant un peu de caractère à l'Impie. La corpulence est appréciable tout comme la longueur qui voit cependant le fumé devenir trop prégnant et gâchant l'équilibre aromatique. Une chose est toutefois certaine. Quel que soit le résultat, la bière coulera à flot en Angleterre !

Bottle from Premier Hop. Black pour with a tan head. Bottle 116/520. Aromas of burnt toffee,smoke,raisins, Turkish coffee, dark chocolate, molasses. Taste is coffee, bourbon, raisins, dark chocolate, more burnt toffee,smoke. Long alcohol burn. Long warming boozy finish. A beast of a brew 👹!
